Description
In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

440ml can from National Brewery Centre, Burton on Trent. Pale gold appearance. Sweet green apple nose. Clean, sweet, simplistic sparkling cider overall, which I sense is not made by black sheep but I could be wrong.

Can from Asda. Orange-red colour with an off-white head that didn't last. The fizz is too prickly for my liking. Smell of raspberry juice and marzipan and cream. Quite tart, almost sour raspberry on tasting, which really doesn't work with the creaminess. The creaminess also doesn't work with the residual orangey pale ale flavour in the background. Could have been quite nice without the lactose, but it all just seems to clash a bit to me. I did not enjoy this one very much.

Bottle at home – gift from my brother. Pours a dark chestnut with ample cream head and good lacing. Mainly malts in the aroma with some hints of dried fruit. Sweet and fruity initially in the mouth, with raisins, parkin and a touch of treacle. Hints of choclate too, with a burst of hoppy bitterness later, before the fruity sweetness returns in the finish. This is a pretty decent ESB type beer.

Creamy head on an ipa. I've drank black sheep and golden sheep many times but never had this. It's a really nice ipa. Not overly bitter and nicely balanced.

Clear peachy beer with a thick foamy head. Smells of raspberry and lactose. Flavour is tart raspberry, lactose again,.a hint of the white chocolate. Finish is still fruity but there's something just a little tinny. Not bad though.

440ml can at 5.3%. Pours pinky orange with a small head. Aroma is sickly sweet white chocolate with a little raspberry. Taste has raspberry juice throughout with burnt and sweet chocolate finish.

Solid enough traditional pale bitter, pours a clear golden colour, with a creamy white head, and a sweet, malty aroma, with floral notes thrown in. Smooth and creamy, some hints of fruit in the sweet malt backbone, and a nice old school bitterness which builds into the finish

Sämiges, sehr röstiges Stout. Die Laktose schmecke ich nicht raus, macht es aber wohl so rund. Die im Stout-Vergleich fehlenden Prozente sind auch nicht spürbar.
