In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery in the very same town, Masham. The brewhouse contains a mixture of tradition and innovation, using the Yorkshire Square Fermentation system which we hold dearly. Our original brewhouse was built from reclaimed equipment which we still use to this day.

Danke an minutemat. Starker Zitronenbeginn, sehr sauer, intensiv. Leicht nach Limette, ansonsten aber eintönig. Lecker, wenn man auf die starke Säure steht. Eigen! 7/9/12/9/8/9

Can from Morrisons Supermarket, Skipton. Deeper golden with a small head. The pineapple is a little lost amongst the strong milkshake flavouring and style, but it is mildly fruity behind this. Slightly sweet with plenty of aroma.

Keg @ The Starling Independent Bar Cafe Kitchen, Harrogate. Cloudy light amber with its mango best found in its nose, but is incorporated into a general citrus tropical fruitiness.

Can from Tesco, Borehamwood. Golden with no head. A little too acidic, and overbearing in this respect. Has quite a strong citric influence as you might expect. High sourness.

440ml can, drunk watching Chernobyl and starting to regret my visit there 6 years ago. Appearance is misted straw yellow. Big lemony nose. Oily palate, big lemon presence, lemon curd, nice sour edge, tart and zesty in the right places. Bit surprised by this, not bad at all.
