Pretty clear, but ever so slightly hazy copper coloured body with a nice, thick, four to five centimetre tall microfoamed and fast-dying tan head, but still leaves a nice lace on the sides. Aroma of grass, flowers, hay and a heavy dose of funk yeast - the kveik, but still seems a bit drier and more woodsie/rustic than others I've smelt. Medium-bodied; Rich malts and earthy, grainy and floral flavours show at first with some pungent bitterness from the hops, a lot of pine and spruce notes and some resinous and grassy astringency at the end with a good deal of the kveik yeast that shows punch as well. Aftertaste shows the malts more than the hops, but both are quite strong and showing a ton of floral and grassy notes with the astringency kicking, especially from the yeast with some alcohol and a hint of sweetness from honey. Overall, a pretty nice beer that has a ton of flavours and complexity both from malts and hops with a lot of spruce, pine and dry hay notes that have some yeast pungency at the end. Nice to sample and a good reminder of the nice beers that are made at a few breweries up in Alaska, especially Midnight Sun! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Silver Gulch (in Anchorage International Airport) in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$9,25 (without having to clear security!) sampled at my house here in Washington on a still pretty chilly day here, especially in May, on 06-May-2022.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite spirit-forward, with plenty of cognac and port barrels. Flavour is boozy, with tons of cognac character upfront, accentuated by the sweet port, followed by toasted caramel and bready malt. There's sweetness here, but it's reined in by the spirit / booze. Excellent.

Ever so slightly hazy deep amber and beautifully copper coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of bright lager yeasts with a lot of breadiness and some grainy qualities, but a very crisp scent with the malts, yeast and light spices coming through. Light-bodied; Deep robust yeastie and bready, doughy qualities show at first with a fairly large pungency for the style with a light sweetness from the caramelised sugars and soft pitted fruits. Aftertaste shows the pear, apple and fruity qualities which give off a grassy and bitterness alongside the deeper yeast notes from the lager yeast and crisp finishes. Overall, a pretty nice and very doughy, yeastie, grainy and grassy marzen that shows a little bit of spice and a dash of the biscuity malts with the slightest hint of caramelised sugars, but a crisp, robust and grainy beer throughout. Great to sample very fresh on Halloween from one of my favourite breweries in the country! I sampled this twelve ounce can, after my kids had gone out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood here, almost as far away as possible from the brewery in Alaska, with this one purchased at La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$2,15 earlier this month, sampled at my house here in Washington on 31-October-2021 on Halloween!
