Ever so slightly hazy deep amber and beautifully copper coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of bright lager yeasts with a lot of breadiness and some grainy qualities, but a very crisp scent with the malts, yeast and light spices coming through. Light-bodied; Deep robust yeastie and bready, doughy qualities show at first with a fairly large pungency for the style with a light sweetness from the caramelised sugars and soft pitted fruits. Aftertaste shows the pear, apple and fruity qualities which give off a grassy and bitterness alongside the deeper yeast notes from the lager yeast and crisp finishes. Overall, a pretty nice and very doughy, yeastie, grainy and grassy marzen that shows a little bit of spice and a dash of the biscuity malts with the slightest hint of caramelised sugars, but a crisp, robust and grainy beer throughout. Great to sample very fresh on Halloween from one of my favourite breweries in the country! I sampled this twelve ounce can, after my kids had gone out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood here, almost as far away as possible from the brewery in Alaska, with this one purchased at La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$2,15 earlier this month, sampled at my house here in Washington on 31-October-2021 on Halloween!

Ever so slightly hazy golden and peach coloured body with a faint off-white head on top that fades pretty quickly and leaves nothing up top after a few seconds. Aroma of super soured and tart gueuze and wheat like spontaneously fermented yeasts with a touch of tropical fruits and a dash of flowers here, but relatively mild compared to the soured fruits and yeast here, but a great nose. Medium-bodied; Rich wheat and yeast flavours come through at first with a mouth puckering sourness that is way stronger than anything else, including the dry oak notes, the berry flavours and a bit of tropical fruits here like pineapple and passionfruit. Aftertaste shows a ton of complexity, all starting from the sourness and spontaneously fermented yeast, but also from a bit of dryness and a softer, floral finish. Overall a very nice soured beer with a ton of flavour, a rich sweetness derived from some tropical fruits and a kick of the flowers and dryness that make this nice all the way around. A great beer to sample, especially fresh and on draught! I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at the brewery here in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$6,00 sampled while here in Alaska for the day after being here with my family on vacation a few months ago.

Deep and dark brown coloured body with a mostly opaque brown glow that shows at about 70 per cent opaque with some nice ruby tints towards the bottom, all underneath a single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, light cream, a dash of molasses and even some smoked oak and wood notes - very strong with the bitter scents. Medium-bodied; Strong rich roasted malts dominate at first with a lot of bitterness picked up, mainly from the grain and the lightly smoked flavours with a lot of rich qualities and a dry finish that shows more molasses and caramelised sugars than anything else. Aftertaste brings out some specialty grains, especially some rye or deeper malt notes, but the wood and light smoke notes dominate here in a good way. Overall, a very nice, super dry and almost Belgian-like Porter/Stout with a good blend between low-ish alcohol and dry Stout with more of a creamy and rich finish. Great to sample locally here on tap, and of course super fresh! I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at the brewery here in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$6,00 sampled while here in Alaska for the day after being here with my family on vacation a few months ago.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, single to perhaps two centimetre tall off-white head that fades fairly quickly and just leaves a few small bubbles on top after a few seconds. Aroma of toasted malt, alcohol, grain, metal, vanilla, lactose, cream, earth and a lot of caramelised sugars - quite strong in the nose, in a good way. Medium to Full-bodied; Very large oatmeal and grainy flavours dominate with a lot of dryness and an earthiness that brings out some rustic qualites, especially a dirty, peanutty nuttiness with a lot of caramelised sugars and coffee flavours that really hit the bitterness at the tail end. Aftertaste is rich, robust, very deep and pungent and earthy with the caramelised sugars showing up as well, but the cream, lactose and dryness are stronger and leave a lingering bitterness throughout here. Overall, a pungent, strong, deep and robust beer that has a lot of depth, but surprisingly, not a lot of body or real complexities here - despite a mellow dash of bourbon and oaky flavours at the first, this is relatively straight forward being dry, grainy, nutty and very creamy with a lot of punch, perhaps showing more than the 8,5 per cent it shows on the label. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Dimond Center), Alaska on 28-June-2021 for US$8,99 sampled in my hotel room here back in Anchorage, Alaska a day before leaving to go back home after this great vacation up North, again!

Dark brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head on top, but a fairly clear, cola-coloured bottom that even shows some amber at the very bottom. Aroma of rich coffee with a lot of earth and nuts, coffee, grain and biscuits with some pungent pitted fruits noticeable. Medium-bodied; Strong rich nuts and earthiness noticeable with the coffee and pitted fruits throughout and a great bitterness from the walnuts and earthy, rustic flavours, but the coffee is by far the strongest, and leaves a subdued bitterness, but nothing too pungent. Aftertaste is relatively straight-forward with some earthiness, a lot of nutty, rustic grainy and even biscuity flavours, but the nuts, coffee and grain are the strongest, in a good way. Overall, a very nice coffee brown that has slightly more pungency and complexity than you'd expect from a standard brown, but not so much that it's cloying or pungent. Nice to sample and well worth trying to find if you are somewhere down south that has this available! I sampled thsi 65 cL bottle, purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Dimond Center), Alaska on 28-June-2021 for US$7,99 sampled in my hotel room on the day before my birthday, in Seward, Alaska on 29-June-2021.

Very dark brown coloured body with a very thick, super creamy tan head that shows at about three to four centimetres at first and only fades a tiny bit from the microfoamed top. Aroma of very pungent spice notes with allspice, canella, star anise, roasted malts and a bunch of lactose and even some pumpkin aspects. Medium to Full-bodied; Very strong rich malt notes dominate somehow above all the spice elements which are right behind as well with a lot of allspice, canella and brown sugars with a big hit of coffee and lactose depth right behind. Aftertaste is pungent as well with the richness from the malts, the alcohol and a ton of lactose and pure cream and milk components, but the spices still are strongest here. Overall, a very pungent beer with the lactose, cream, spice and malts and sugars that somehow tastes way more than 6,0 per cent alcohol, but hits the flavours very nicely! Great to sample and well worth grabbing if you can find this! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased on 28-June-2021 for US$2,59 at Brown Jug in Anchorage (Old Seward), Alaska sampled in my hotel room here in Homer, Alaska on 28-June-2021.
A hazed dark reddish amber DIPA with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, resinous hops, light dank notes. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with treacle, roasted character, resinous hops, light rye, OK. 2011 bottle.
