Description
On a small abandoned farm back in 2002 William Frank and Else Birk started a small brew house focusing on quality and good craftsmanship. The brewery was not far from where the Grauballe man (a bog body that was uncovered in 1952 from a peat bog) was found - hence the name Grauballe Bryghus.

Grauballe Bryghus was in these premises until the year 2013. By then it had grown so big that it was time to move to larger premises where it is today.

(33 cl bottle). Orange colour, slightly hazy, moderate head. Moderate aroma of malts, nuts, honey and flowery hops. Honey is surprisingly subdued in aroma and flavour - this is definitely a beer, not a mead. However, honey adds a moderate sweetness to the flavour of a beer otherwise dominated by plentiful hops. Lagerish mouthfeel, a bit too carbonated for my taste. Bitter-sweet finish, bitter aftertaste. Not 100% well balanced in my book, but still a decent beer.

0.33cl BottleHoneyish, flowery and grassy aroma. Hazy orange amber, lowish carbonation and head. Belgian golden ale roots are evident in the flavor, fruity (apples, kiwis), spicy and a little bit belgian yeast funk (miniscule bandaid), honeyish notes detectable in the background. Exits nicely on grass and pine needles. Complex brew. Unexpectedly full body. Soft mouthfeel. I was sceptical when I saw the price (3.7 euros for 33cl), but all in all it was well worth it.

A hazy orange beer with a beutiful light brown head. The aroma is of fruit, wood, honey, and hops. The flavor is light yet powerful, it contains notes of honey and wood and ends on a nice hoppy dryness. This is a very nice honey beer, since the sweetness of honey is not present at all - only the aromas and flavors.

Hazy golden color; creamy head. Nice aroma, with some hop. Quite bitter and with a residual sweetness, all along, to the final, but quite poor hop character; just sweet caramel feeling.

Cloudy golden color; creamy head. Nice honey aroma. Quite good malty ale, with a nice honey touch. Ends with a quite strong bitterness; herbs.

Draught, 2005-04-24, 8-5-8-4-16=41
Hazy amber color; huge head. Real honey aroma, strong and nice; flowery, mixed with a delicate hop. The sweetness is not too much, balanced, malty, with an interesting hoppiness, aromatic. Very well brewed!

The aroma is light sweet with notes of oranges and other fruits. The beer has an unclear orange color and a small fast disappearing head. The flavor is a very nice sweetness from a good maltblend. It has a softness to it. In the middle it turns a little thin but end on a very nice bitterness. A really nice beer - better than the 80sh.

Hazy red color. Light malt aroma. Quite sweet and malty, probably missing a roasted malt character for being a Scottish Ale, and also missing some more hop.

Mahogany colour. Vague peat aroma. Low hop rate and very malt accented, yet light bodied. Dominated by a velvetty soft fine malt flavour. Woody finish with very low bitterness.
