Description
Gosnells was founded by Tom Gosnell in 2014 after he was inspired to turn his hand to experimenting with mead during a trip to the USA. As an avid home brewer of cider and perry, Tom had brewing experience that he quickly applied to developing our signature style of light, crisp, sparkling mead. From those early days our team and brewery has grown, but our aim remains the same: to re-popularise mead and bring it back to the people.

Bottle from Hop, Burns & Black. Pours clear orangey pink, with a thin pink white head. Floral aroma of berries & sweet honey. The taste is fruity, sweet red berries, jam, & honey with a dry, hibiscus finish. Med/thin body and soft carbonation. Tastes like pop, you'd never know it was alchoholic.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Fergus. Pours pale yellow with a small, foamy white head. The nose has crisp honey notes, dashes of lemon peel, straw, biscuits. Medium sweet flavour with some white sugar, focaccia, honey, lemon drizzle, vanilla syrup. Medium bodied, lightly oily, soft. Sweet and salty finish, with further sugary honey, wheat biscuits. Enjoyable.

Bottle at home. It pours clear very pale greenish - yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is soft, sweet honey, lemon, although quite savoury, saltiness and table water cracker. The taste is fairly sweet upfront, honey, zingy lemon, tangy apple, lemonade, definite salty character, cracker and tannin with a sweet, tangy finish. Light - medium body and average carbonation. Comes across and bit sweet and sugary. Not sure the balance quite there on this one. Fair.

Bottle shared with the KL tasting crew. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy sweet malt, honey. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a smooth big sweet honey palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not a great example of the style. Simply honey water and way too light.

Keg at The Rake. It pours hazy ruby red with a pink head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, red berry, sweet honey, hay and berry skin. The taste is soft sweetness, juicy fruit, cherry cola, red cola, red berry, jam, honey, candy and red apple with a mellow finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Almost tastes like a craft soda as alcohol is not really present. Good fun.
