On tap at the brewpub. It’s an unclear brown beer with a small, dense off-white head. The aroma is smoked for sure, but it’s almost equally roasted, making me think it may suit porter and stout but not smoked beer drinkers. There’s some faint dms notes and also some dried fruits and toffee too on the nose. It’s full to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation, semi sweet. Roasted and smoked malts, prunes, dark sugar hints, some bitterness and bread in the flavor. Long roasted and lightly smoked finish with prunes in the back. Smoked schwarzbier might be the best description of this beer. 160621

On tap at the brewpub. It’s a lightly hazy dark golden colored beer with a small, white head. The aroma has a light caramel maltyness, with grains, some fruityness, peaches and yellow plums, hay add grass. Hints of piney hops and a vague hint of dms. It’s semi sweet on the palate, full bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, with a little warmth in the back. Fruity, caramel flavor with a suitable bitterness. Lasting lightly warming but mostly fruity finish. A decent pale bock indeed. A bit sweet perhaps.160621

Taste is heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, caramel, toffee, cocoa, chocolate and bread finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light sour with a long sweet apple and a light tart finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft. I’m not a big fan of ciders and this was to sweet for my taste.
