Description
We started a Brewery as a means to contribute to a truly artisan craft. We believe in friendship before finance and are happy to help others in this industry as we have been helped by those who came before us. We are bold believers in the fact that a well made beer can cool your spirit and warm your soul.

Our flagship Mason Ale Works production brewery opened in 2017 at our San Marcos Urge Common House Location. Here JJ “Sweet Meat” Jimenez, our Director of Brewing Operations, helms the wheel. All of our can releases like our popular Jambi West Coast IPA and Respeto Mexican Lager are brewed and canned in these four walls. We also crank out an extensive line-up of one-off releases out of here.

Pour is a almost clear blonde with a large white head. Aroma is pine, citrus and maybe some ripe melon. Flavor is a light hop, almost no bitterness and a little sweetness is left. This is pretty light all around. It looked and smelled good then it kind of ran out of steam and became watery and bland.

Interesting IPA, mixing pine, citrus, and earthy hops with wet, grainy malts, not unappealing, just a bit rough around the edges. Grapefruit, papaya, and lemon power the front, while the back end grows a smidge wort-ish, with a grain bin heaviness that counters the bright hop profile. Again, not a bad beer, just somewhat unrefined, in need of a little tweaking. Drinkable regardless.

Pour is a thick hazy maize color with a large white head. Aroma is a decent fruity mango hop with a little pineapple in there. Flavor is some melon and green apple with a bit of honey malt and very little bitterness. Not a hop bomb by any means but this will do just fine.

12oz can pours with a near clear gold to thinly hued copper colored body that supports a tight off white head. The first whiff and sip had a brew day hoppy wort senstaion to it that brought back some good memories. Another pull and there's a modest level of grassy, herbal, green woody hops, a wedge of citrus and then floral hops. The taste delivers a nice array of bitter hops that are right there in your face yet restrained. Bitter floral, citrus, woody and faintly earthy too. The can indicates lots of soft tropical hops but it seems more classic West Coast IPA with all the C hops. Tastes good.

12oz can pours with a near clear deep copper body that supports a tight tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a thin orchestra of sweet malts and nuttiness as well as citrus and woody like hoppiness. The taste delivers a smooth malty mouth feel with modestly sweet malts and a light nuttiness rolling quickly into an increasing load of bitter hops. The hops range from spicy woody, citrus and then some Mt. Hood like spicy black licorice. Nice offering.

Pour is a hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is a pick between your favorite citrus fruit freshly peeled. A real nice citrus hop. Flavor is more citrus but this is intensely bitter. This is a full on IBU assault on the tongue. It was going in the right direction until the swallow when the bitterness kicked in. Tame the bitterness here and you may have something.
