About
In 1564 for the first time a brewery is mentioned in Svijany. In the following years the brewery was owned by different families. In 1912 it was bought by brewer Antonín Kratochvíle. The Kratochvíle family operated the brewery till 1939. After the war the brewery was confiscated and later nationalized. in 1990 the state enterprise Vratislavice nad Nisou was created, which included Svijany Brewery. In 1998 the company Pivovar Svijany was created, which became the new owner of the brewery. In 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company. Gradually Svijany became the strongest regional brand with national importance. The popularity of the brewery is increasing and it is gradually being developed into one of the largest independent breweries in the Czech Republic.
Svijany Brewery is wholly Czech owned and remains one of the last in ‚domestic‘ hands.

Leicht rötliche Farbe. Kräftig, gut gehopft. Viel mehr Substanz als die 4,8 % Alk. vermuten lassen. Süßliche Malznoten treffen auf herbe Getreidenoten. Floral, Fruchtnoten sind nur in Nuancen vorhanden. Für 59 Cent bei Lidl gekauft. Das ist sehr günstig für ein Importbier in dieser Qualität. Sehr sympathisch finde ich, dass extra auf der Dose darauf hingewiesen wird, dass das Bier nicht abgekocht (also pasteurisiert) wurde. Das Zucker und (das neben Saazer Hopfen) auch Hopfenerzeugnisse (was ist das überhaupt?) als Zutaten aufgelistet werden hingegen nicht. Wird hier auf Ratebeer fälschlicher Weise als Pilsner geführt. „Helles Lagerbier“ steht auf dem Etikett - und geschmacklich wird dies auch erfüllt.

On tap at Solidaten Svejk. Pours a clear amber with large fluffy off white head that lasts. The aroma is toasted malt, earth, bread. Slick body, wet biscuit, grass, light bitterness, crushable, enjoyed this.

Golden colour, rocky head that stays for a while, fair lacing. Aroma is wort, grain. Light bitterness. Light body. Rather boring.

V smokehouse košice. Vôňa tropickoovocná jemne horkastá, žuvačková džúsová. Bledá, zlatistá farba. Chuť úplne rovnaká ako vôňa. Silná, ovocná, asi aj trochu bergamotu cítim? V lete ako zaujímavý džús určite áno.

Tap. Light golden colour, clear, fluffy white foam. Aroma: malty, slightly sour, slightly herbal hops. Taste: malty, alcoholic, light bitterness, slightly grassy hops, highly refined, not too bright.

Tap at U Rokytky. Clear golden hody. White head. Buttery-yeasty aroma, some sweetish maltiness. Soft taste, lean, malty with light estery touches. Not undrinkable, just a flawed lager with just traces od hops in sight.

Tap at U Rokytky. Misty golden body, white head Yeasty aroma, mild estery notes, a bit stale. Some yolky and herbal notes too. Lean taste, malty+estery-yeasty again. Soft but lean. Oookaaay. No real trace of hops. Just okay at best. Expected far more.
