(Can) Pours deep brown with small thin tan head. Nice aroma with good balance of roast grains and coffee. Great mouthfeel with medium body and plenty of bright carbonation. Taste follows aroma with a very good balance of roast grains and coffee. The coffee builds through the palate with a nice black coffee bitterness in the finish. I am not a big fan of mixing beer and coffee but this works well.

Can. Clear amber with a dense white head that fades to a cm. Fairly subtle aroma of grapefruit, kumquat, pine, grilled peach, bread. Taste is not subtle: sweet, boozy and bitter. Some bread crust, citrus, pine. Some heat. Lots of bitterness. Tasty but crude (OK, that’s arguably to style).

Can. Dark brown with an inch of light tan head. Aroma of nectarines, spiced oranges, mocha, bread. Not obviously Belgian. Fairly light bodied and quite fruity with lots of stone fruit before a mildly spiced moderately bitter finish. A bit strong for what it offers but another good BIPA from Pirate Life.

A boring pale ale masquerading as a NEIPA. Some simple hop flavours, a thin palate - very dissappointing. Do better, Pirate Life.

Can. Pale cloudy orange with a brief loose white head. 3- Aroma of oranges, crackers, Australian (ie acidic) pineapple, grass. Fairly light bodied, fizzy. Dryish with crackery malt, more tropical fruit than guessed fro the aroma, moderate bitterness and some pepper and astringency that - I dunno - could be the ants. OK, not one one of their better pales but a decent thirst slaker.

Pirate Idaho - found at Dan Murphy, on the ground like a wild potato. Pale amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of oranges, fresh cut pine, spices, flowers. Soft and sweet malt behind those hop aromatics with a fairly bitter spicy finish. Straightforward and good.

Can. Brown with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee, strong bread. Medium bodied, lowish carbonation. Coffee is prominent in the taste but not so much as in the aroma. Roast gradually grips to join it. There's a real focus to the clean palate that's very nice before some spices and dried fruit at the bitter end. Pretty good.

Can. Clear golden amber with a cm of white head. Rather un-lager like aroma of peach, citrus, pine - but it's OK, just lacks a bit of focus. Lightish bodied, carbonation is medium high. A suggestion of a clean palate despite the fruit - consigning them to accents - before a slightly harsh resinous/ spicy bitter finish spoils things again. Maybe I don't get it or maybe it's dumb.

355ml can into tulip. From Dan Murphy's Wolli Creek. Pours a pale amber with a slight haze. Big head of foam, very light carbonation. Nose of sweet malt and floral grassy hints. Bitter but easy to drink. Nice cleansing bitter finish with notes of fruit, nettles and malt. I always like single hop beers, I like to know what the individual hop tastes like. This is a really nice, well made beer. Dangerously drinkable at 7%.
