750ml bottle [courtesy of Paul, shared by Claudius - thanks a lot!]. Cloudy, orange golden colour with small, frothy, half-way white head. Sweet-ish, minimally grainy, pale malty and yeasty fruity, slightly doughy yeasty aroma, hints of apricot, mirabelle. Taste is yeasty fruity slightly doughy yeasty, sweet-ish pale malty and moderately bitter, minimally herbal hoppy, hints of mirabelle, apricot.
Slightly creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium to fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation.
Relatively light, fairly refreshing- - nice.

Dense, stable cream-coloured head over cola-coloured beer, lively carbonated. Malts, other grains, India rubber, sneakers. Artificial aromas. Sweet and again this artificial streak, as eraser used. Band aid, sparadrap. Citrus, melon. Medium bodied, quite slick. The aftertaste has a hint of spices. Artificial flavours. Not really my cup of wintertea. Txs to Stef!

Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy blond brew with some fine spices and well balanced bittersweet fininsh.

C'est bien de vouloir faire une bière à la myrtille, mais faut-il encore que la base s'y prête. Et sur myrtille d'Amélie, la base ne s'y prête pas à mon sens. Le visuel est sur un blond rosâtre légèrement voilé avec une fine effervescence moyennement soutenue et peu de mousse à la surface. Au nez, c'est une myrtille quelque peu confuse qui se révèle avec des arômes d'alcool et de céréales. En bouche, ce n'est pas mieux avec une base qui n'est clairement pas faite pour une bière aromatisée. Sur l'attaque, la bière est relativement neutre, la myrtille arrivant plus franchement par la suite. La deuxième est plus intense et aromatique mais pas très appréciable et l’arrière-bouche et le final sont même légèrement écœurants avec un sucre trop poussé. Pas terrible.

Voici une bonne surprise pour une double qui reste un style compliqué. Le plus surprenant est peut-être le dosage relativement important des épices qui ne la ferait pas rougir en tant que bière de Noël (même si sa texture très fine ne va pas dans ce sens). En verre nous sommes sur un brun très clair et parfaitement limpide. L'effervescence y est faible et la mousse peu présente. Le nez est globalement frais sur le caramel, le candy, le zest d'orange, la coriandre et le girofle. En bouche, la texture très fine n'empêche pas l'expression des arômes avec une corpulence très honnête. Les épices sont plus présentes qu'au nez sans être de trop. Cela donne de l'amplitude à la bière avec un alcool à 8,3 % impeccable donnant du caractère. Du poivre fait son apparition en plus des arômes présents au nez. Belle longueur également pour une double appréciable.

The 'ordinary' blonde in the old Vieille Salme range, now executed at Val-Dieu. Steinie bottle from Drinks4U in Deinze. Thick and foamy, eggshell-white, dense, regular, pillowy, plaster-lacing head over a clear, pure yellow-golden blonde beer with a continuous string of sparkling in the middle; hazy and more deeply apricot-tinged with sediment. Aroma of brioche, honey, halfripe mango, pineapple, ripe Durondeau pear, cooked turnip, sweetclover, dry hay, wet powder sugar, vague hints of lychee, banana, oxidized green apple, yellow plum and rosemary, but also iron (confirmed by the 'hand test'). Spritzy onset, very active (even audible) carbonation but in a fine-bubbled kind of way, fruity with notes of ripe apricot, pineapple, pear and even a touch of lychee, sweet with a slight sourish undertone; rounded, slick mouthfeel. Smooth pale malt sweetishness, a tad porridge-like with honeyish sugars on top, continuing the sweet yellow fruit elements towards a more herbal, softly bittering finish, where floral hops and spicy phenols combine into impressions of sweet-smelling spring flowers, honey and ripe pear. Bitterness remains very soft and mild, a bit too much so in fact - this is clearly intended for the masses, and generally the umpteenth Belgian style blonde which remains too sweet and easy. All the while, this metallic aspect 'zings' around the edges, even if it remains relatively subtle. Typically sweet and fruity Belgian blonde, as expected, but even overly sweet in this case.

Kerstbier Festival. Clear dark reddish brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of intense herbal malt, basil, coriander. Taste of anis, coriander, dark malt, intense spicy finish.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a mahogany colour with a thick creamy off white head. Aroma is quite unusual with notes of red berries, perfume, a tart sourness with hints of dry dark fruits and caramel. Taste again has more notes of perfume, more red berries, some plums, toasty brown bread, caramel, dry dark fruits, a slightly tart edge and an earthy like bitterness that clings to the palate on the long finish. Medium body, low carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Unique beer that is actually quite complex. I like it.
