Description
Hop Back Brewery Ltd was formed in October 1991 by John Gilbert and we moved to a small industrial unit in Downton, just south of Salisbury. After refurbishment and installation, brewing on the new 20 barrel plant started in June 1992.

In 2012 Hop Back celebrated its 25th birthday, having retained John’s original philosophy and passion for beers that he would want to drink.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a medium tan head. Nose is heavy roasted malt and coffee, maybe a bit of smoke. Taste is mix of coffee and roasted malt, hints of cocoa, and a dry bittersweet note. Thanks to BuchDich for sharing this one.

Lemony, bright yellow colour with a brilliant white soapy head. Massive aroma of hop. Smells like beer did when you were a child. Dry flavour but still feels fresh and a little sharp in the mouth.

Bottle conditioned; nose is yeasty, grainy, and some floral hops with a tiny bit of banana ester I pick up now and then; color is urine yellow with a big and longlasting yellow tinged head; poured a small snifter full and set the bottle down. After a minute or two the foam was coming out of the bottle like a Forth of July fireworks snake. Flavor has spicy and citrusy hops with a nice light bitter finish.

Bottle. Pale beer with strong white head. The aroma is nicely lemony with a dry finish, and the flavour is lemony and wheaty with a dry finish. Overall an average beer.
