Half on cask. Pale golden in colour topped by a medium dose of white foam. Fresh aroma of grass and hops. Spicy and Fruity flavour - sweet orange and grapefruit. Vague dry, bitter end (enjoyed at the cosy Harp pub in Covent Garden 18.09.2006).

Bottle. Clear very dark brown color with a brown head. Roasted tones mixed with a fresh sweetness. Dominant roasted taste with some chocolate hiding in the back. Chocolate after taste. Medium bitterness.

First rating500 ml bottle at The RoverHuge tan to brown head. Clear but very dark brown color. Roasted tones mixed with a fresh sweetness, but also some acid. A little bit of smoke in the smell as well. Dominant roasted taste with some chocolate hiding in the back. Chocolate after taste. Medium bitterness. Mine had a funny aroma, smells a little like vinegar. Poured a nice gold color with a lacing white head. Flavor was fantastic though. Most light colored beers tend have simple flavors, this did not. The cask and bottle conditioned flavors made this very complex. Wheaty, malty, slightly hoppy, sweet, citrus, this beer has alot. Clean finish. Slightly fizzy. Check this out.

Bottled(500ml). –Pale golden coloured before sediment, but after that hazy orange like German Hefeweizen. Small white head, sour citric nose. Bitter hoppy and grassy citric aroma with notes of yeast. Lots of yeast sediment at the bottom. This beer is 4 times CAMRA gold medal winner but I didn’t liked it at all, maybe because I’m not used to that kind of english ale.

Bottle conditioned. Initially deep straw colour with a white head, somewhat cluded by the sedement which didn’t stay in the bottle despite careful pouring. Citrus aroma, yeasty flavour, and good bitter finish.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 2 Aug) Colour is dark brown, almost black, with off-white foamy head. Nose is roasted with notes of chocolate, coffee (with milk?) and fresh coffee beans. Taste is roasted with chocolate, coffee, cocoa. Some milky character as well. Balanced bitterness in the mainly malty finish. Very drinkable and nice.

(Cask at Bar Fringe, Manchester, 28 July) Colour is golden yellow with copper notes, white head. Nose is fruity with citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and a grassy hop aroma. Same goes for the taste: fruity with lemon, grapefruit and a grassy, slightly soapy, hop character in the rather long finish. Starts with some malty sweetnes but turns drier towards the end. Refreshing and easy to drink despite the 5%.
