Cask (as Stairway) at Royal Oak, Fritham, Hampshire. Pale brown. Aroma of hay and fruit. Sweetish with lots of resiny grassy hops. Woody, densely malty and packed with fruity cherry notes, comong both from hops and malt. Lingering really bitter finish.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Black beer with disappearing tan head. Intense tarry malt aroma. Dark treacle in mouth. Good choc, some dark fruits. Good intensity of flavours. Roasted malt is very nice. Bit of ginger and a bit of damson I think.

Cask at The Monksโ Retreat, Reading Described as Stairway on the pump.
A copper colour with an off-white head; citrus aromas and a citrus taste, quite sweet but with a light peppery aftertaste. I would have described this as a Golden Ale rather than a bitter.

Bottle: Hazy, deep golden coloured, thin but stable foamy layer; sweet-maltynose with a distinctive touch of smoked wood and a tinge of citrus-fruitiness; moderate sweet-bitter flavour; sweet smokey finish with a bigger touch of aromatic bitterness in the aftertaste. Wow, a smoked Ale....Good stuff !

Very dark, garnet coloured body. Small white layer. Has not got much in neither aroma nor taste, besides a touch of dark fruits and a short bitter finish. Medium palate (Half on gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival, 28.09.2006).

Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2006. Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Fruity malty aroma with some hoppy hints. Salty fruity and malty flavor. Has a long malty finish.

Bottled (Big thanks to staff of the Rover in Gothenburg, they got one bottle from a visitor and shared it with tbone & me!). Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is sweet fruits and flowery hops. Flavour is apricot, fruits and some hops. Also some harsh hayish notes in aftertaste.

500ml bottle from Hogs Back Brewery Shop. Hazy copper colour, thin white head. Hoppy, toffee aroma, sparkling in mouth. Bit of rubber. Quite nice, but I think that it could be better, maybe not a good bottle condtion. Rubbery sticky hop dominates the finish

Bottled "Stairway" (BB 12/2006). Copper brown, small white head. Flowery hoppy ("cat piss") aroma. Flowery hoppy, carbonated mouthfeel. Hoppy, a bit grassy aftertaste. Standard. Big thanks to the staff of The Rover in Gothenburg. Their only bottle was a gift from the English visitor and they let me rate it :)

Cask @ GBBF 2006. Pours a hazy amber colour with an off-white head. Fruity aroma. Fruity malty flavor with some saltiness and bitterness. Fruity aftertaste with some bitterness.
