Description
Triple fff launched in 1997 by Graham Trott, a cabinet maker by trade who was a keen home brewer. The most popular question we get asked is 'What is Triple fff?'. As many of you know all our beers (Alton's Pride aside) are either song or album titles. Triple fff in music stands for fortississimo and means very very loud.

He installed a 5 barrel plant (20 casks) in one of the units vacated by the now closed furniture factory on Station Approach in the village of Four Marks. The station still operates on the steam heritage Watercress Line which runs ten miles between Alton and Alresford.

The beer names came from song titles of many of the 60s rock icons, Van Morrison, Led Zeppelin and Cream with Moondance (4.2% ABV), Stairway (4.6% ABV) and the well loved Pressed Rat and Warthog (3.8% ABV). The psychedelic 60s did not spawn a song called Alton Pride (3.8% ABV) but that joined the lyrical portfolio and is our number one seller following its success at 2008’s Great British Beer Festival having been voted Supreme Champion Beer of Britain.

The year 2000 saw an expansion into an 18 Barrel plant and finally in 2006 the brewery became what it is today, a 50 Barrel system that's capable of brewing 160 casks of beer per brew.

Cask (@Queens Head, Chelmsford): Lifht amber/ deep golden coloured, small, lacing foamy layer; light sweet fruity (honey) nose with a light, but aromatic bitterness; medium sweetish-bitter flavour, becoming drier towards the fruity, herbal bitter finish. A pretty well rounded brew, well crafted.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Very dark reddish brown colour with lasting bubbly beige head. Bit roasted on the aroma, bit of toffee. Very drinkable. Good malt/hop balance. Satisfying. Even a bit of ginger. Hop is nice

(Cask at Market Porter, Borough, London 23 Apr 2006) Amber colour with little head. Nose is fruity and full of hops and citrus (grapefruit), the Cascade hops are very prominent. Taste is hoppy and bitter with citrus (grapefruit, lemon), initially a bit sweet, but drier towards the finish. Rather one dimensional, but nice if you like the Cascade character.

Cask. Dark ruby red colour, no head. Sweet fruits, malts and wooden hints in aroma. Flavour is hayish, wooden and weirdly sweet. It could do with more sourish hints... Still a pleasant beer, which has a smooth aftertaste of wood, hops and some fruits.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] A light brown beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is sweet malty, and so is the flavor, but in the flavor there’s also some spices - but I can’t pick them out.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] An opaque brown beer with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet and roasted, with some notes of coffee, while the flavor is sweet roasted with a bitter coffee finish. Great flavor.
