Clear amber pour with a small white head. Aromas of malt, hops and a hint of oak (?). Taste is malt, hops, grain, lemon - slightly bitter finish. Not bad.

(Cask at Lyric, Soho, London, 13 May 2024) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Creamy beige head. Malty nose with caramel, toffee and dark fruit. Malty taste with notes of caramel, toffee, dried fruit, toast, dark bread, dried apricots and a balanced earthy bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

(Cask at Lyric, Soho, London, 13 May 2024) Golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grass and wheat crackers. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grass, peaches, biscuits and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Light body, quite dry. Light and refreshing, with a fresh hop profile. Nice one.

November 2016: Cask half pint at The Market Porter, Borough. Dark copper colour, small off-white head. Moderate malty aroma. Earthy and surprisingly roasty dry flavour, not bad, but not quite my cup of tea.

Bottle. A gift from Totnes. The person not the place. Mostly clear gold with a decent lasting white froth. Light sweet lemon and orange, bit of floral herb, on top of sweet buttery biscuit malt. Some sweetness here but it’s also nicely bitter and crisp. Light body with fine brisk carbonation. Herbal floral citrus bitterness to finish. Good hote golde.

Pours a clear mahogany brown colour with a small creamy, lasting, beige head. Aroma is coffee, light roasted dark malts, with a light char note. A sweetish and light roasted malt taste, dark roasted malt, brown bread, coffee, and chocolate flavours with a light sweet roasted finish.

500ml bottle from, I believe, Hops and Craft, Exeter. Drunk after a ride with Soph around the Stiperstones. Pours a cola brown, not much of a head and what is there doesn't stick around, no lacing. Aroma has hearty dark malt and toffee. Flavour profile has pleasant chocolate malt and soft roast with a gentle chocolate sweetness coursing through, modest roast with a hoppy bitter finish. Medium to light bodied. Simple, light quencher, enjoyed it.

Malty taste with caramel, apricot marmalade, red fruit and a mild earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced bitter. Quite nice.

Cask at Shrewsbury Hotel, Shrewsbury. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Malts are the mainstay of the aroma, plus hints of cola and coffee. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a smoky texture. Roast malts and coffee hit the taste buds first, but liquorice then overpowers them. Hints of dandelion and burdock also. Some bitterness in the dry finish. This is a decent all round stout.
