Rather shocking how much of an improvement this imperial version is over the original. Any overbearing sweet notes have been shored up by a strong hoppy back end, leaving the pint with a delicious blend of bakerโ€™s chocolate and unsweetened peanut butter. Roasty malts play nicely off the nuttiness, and the dry, moderately bitter fade prevents thing from growing cloy. Great peanut butter aroma, solid looks, silky texture. Wasnโ€™t expecting to rave over this beer, but itโ€™s damn good.

Solid NE IPA, big juicy hops with an appreciably bitter back end. Biscuity malts even out the mango-lemon-cat pee hoppiness, and the lingering IBUs remind you hazed IPAs donโ€™t all have to be palate-friendly bitter-free hop-bombs. Huge tropical-dank nose, and the appearance is good, even if the massive amount of shit swirling around the pint is a bit disconcerting. Not bad.

Can from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Hazy orange pour with a white head. Lots of grapefruit in the nose plus a splash of lemongrass and lime. Same story in the flavour. Sharp, bitter citrus linger. Good.

Tasty little watermelon beer, sufficiently sour yet with a nice, prominent watermelon backbone that never grows overpowering or cloy. Toasty malts shore up the back end, and a yeasty, tart finish keeps things light and refreshing. Not bad.

Can from Oddbins. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely lacy fawn head. Nose - definite chocolate and peanut butter notes up front. Something resembling waffles with strawberry or raspberry syrup too. Taste - more waffles or pancakes with peanut butter and jelly. Less in the way of chocolate. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. The finish is sweet but fairly elegant. Overall - good.

Cam from Oddbins. Appearance - cloudy orange. Nice fluffy head. Nose - pink grapefruit mostly. Taste - bitter grapefruit and pith. A bit of lilt going on too. Palate - light bodied with a lean dry middle section. Dry bitter finish. Overall - decent if a bit single dimensional.

355ml can into shaker. Nose of sweet malt and pepper, some cardboard. Cloudy amber beer with thin sticky head. Sharply bitter taste followed by pine resin and aspirin bitterness. Oh man, this is earthy and dry. Just enough malt to balance.
