Tasted at ’Bierweekend de lambiekstoempers’ 2015. Pours clear, watery blonde. Big white head. Smell is grainy, grassy. Taste is bit bitter, perfumy, floral/citrussy. Too sweet, and too thin for me.

Bottled@Delirium Café, Brussels. Deep ambery black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is floral, fruity, wooden and some mild herbal notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, floral, herbal and some mild madeiralike oxidized notes. Pleasantly aged this one as well, even though the bartenders warned this can be really harsh.

Bottled@Delirium Café, Brussels. More or less black colour with a mediumsized brown head. Aroma is toffee, mild earth cellar, sweet raisins and some nutty notes. Flavour is very similar with raisins and floral notes kicking in big time. Nice vintage feeling to this (BBE was quite many years back on this one...).

330 ml. bottle sampled. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. Brewed exclusively for USA export. No doubt to cash in on the current saison craze. The amount of new saison’s in Belgium has been crazy this year, it used to be quite a rare style. In the Netherlands it also seems like every brewer is making a saison these days. Personally I feel like most of these fall a bit short & a lot of them are just mediocre Belgian style beers. Anyway,… Small GUSHER. Huge head collapses instantly, misty golden, lightly sparkling. Nose is insanely bizarre, like spoiled soap & lavender, chemical lemon, liquid washing soap,… Yikes, what spices did they put in here? Taste is odd & unpleasant, huge spoiled soap, powdery rotting lemon, rotting lavender, tad sour milk, big esters, very esters, flower, lingering washing powder aftertaste, rotting ginger, spoiled soap,… Sparkling, lightly boozy, coats the mouth in almost powdery way,… I really didn’t like this one,… A catastrophe of spices. Too much of everything, booze, esters, those awful spices,… Not for me. Very unpleasant.

Weird beer spiced with cannabis flowers, but the label explicitly states that it does not contain THC (if it were the case, this would legally be in a sort of grey zone in this country, I guess). Medium thick, snow white, loosely structured and therefore unstable head over a hazy pale yellow blonde beer with greenish hue and fierce sparkling. Unattractive aroma: dust, dried grass and dito flowers (I assume this is the cannabis), raw grain, iron, old bread, cardboard, sweat. Taste begins with hints of pear and unripe peach, minerally carbonation, thin body with a feeble, lightly bready maltiness to it, a bit metallic even in the middle, finishing with generic dried kitchen herbs (the cannabis, doubtlessly), some floral hoppiness but nothing deeply bitter, and a neutral kind of powdery yeastiness. Man, this is boring in all respects... If the aim was to evoke cannabis without actually containing THC, they would have been better off using an American C-hop, like Columbus or something, the aroma of which is not unlike that of weed (both plants are in the same family and therefore share certain properties...). Or what the heck, use the real deal, thàt would really have made a difference... In this form: just a gadget, but by no means a good beer.

33 cl bottle @ Delirium Café, Brussels, BBE 12/2013
Aroma has toffee candy, moldy cellar tones and suyrypy candy nites. Flavour has syrupy candy, some malty notes, toffee and mild moldy cellar. This one is also relatively well preserved.

No BBE marking but scale on label ends at 2013. Aroma has strong raisins, syrupy malt and some cardboard. Flavour has raisins, syrupy malt, some flour and mild alcohol. Well, this has been preserved better than I expected.

Bottle at home. I only know ginseng from those Monster energy drinks, but I really doubt that the taste of that contains anything at all of ginseng... Pours clear blonde, small white head collides fast. Smell is intense cooked vegetables. Taste is rather dry, vegetables ( cooked, once again, like ground-type vegetables ). some bitter sidetone as well as sweet notes. not my type of taste. not really balanced either.
