Fresh, spicy citrusy and yeasty aroma. Notes of lemon zest and fresh bread. Cloudy pale gold with full fizzy head. Tripelish. Quite sweet up front, quickly matched by a dry sourness on the middle of the tongue and a mildly bitter finish. Full flavor and amazingly light fluffy mouthfeel. High carb. Alcohol well masked, but noticeable in the warming finish. Outstandingly quaffable, but quickly intoxicating. Takes on a candyish note in the end, making it easier to start than finish, but remains great all the way through, and a top-notch tripel.

Ruddy brown; fruity-malty aroma (light raisin); palate is quite fruity as well (raisin, cherry) and sweet, with loads of malts. But they aren't as well-structured as say, Rochefort.

I dont think it's only available in the abbey anymore. There were loads of bottles in the store i went to. The bottle has a very modern label, so i think they're expanding their borders again. The beer has a pale golden color. A Spicy nose with citrus elements. Indeed some bitterness can be added when you arrive at the tasting. The palate is acceptable though. I presume the beer is a tripel, because of it's color, taste and ABV. If it wants to fit this category, i'm a bit disappointed actually, because i think i may expect something special from a real trappist, as e.g. westvleteren and rochefort certainly satisfy my beer-needs. But it's still a very nice beer.

2014-11-06, purchased in May 2002, bb 11-2003, possibly 13 years old, 7-4-7-3-14=35
It still has a good carbonation level; it pours a hazy blond color with old gold hue, and small but compact head. The aroma is delcate, Belgian malt, light biscuits, traces of oxidization and chamomile. Lean mouthfeel; mellow malt flavor, within a very moderate sweetness; it has just a light oxidization, very light fruitines, pear, and expectedly low bitterness.
Declining, but still enjoyable.

Blond ale, average head, lots of stuff is suspension. Nice aroma, hop (not floreal like a Westvleteren), black pepper, some alcohol. Full mouth, average body, enough dry; some malt and some bitterness; palate enough bitter and strong, not enough aromatic. It gets smoother while getting warmer.
Enough strong and alcoholic, poor of malt taste and hop character. Still a pleasant beer, but the less interesting among the Trappist Ales.

Not as complex? Had it at the end of the session, did we? Hazy yellow, w/creamy, uneven head. Hoppy aroma with yeast, peaches, leather, pepper. Firm body - bracing alcohol but balanced by hops and underlying doughy pale malts. The finish is long, dry and warming, getting very hoppy right at the end. As it warms a little bit more, an Orval-like yeast character begins to show itself.

Golden coloured. Malty, restrained fruitiness, somewhat salty. Rather bitter. Not as complex as many other trappists.
