Description
During the dawn of micro-brewing in the Bay Area Roger Lind started Lind Brewing Company, which would later become Drake's Brewing. Lind was a brewer at Triple Rock in Berkeley, one of the first brewpubs in America, and set off on his own to brew draft-only English-style ales. In 1998 Roger Lind sold the brewery to a local coffee company, which continued to brew Drake's beer. A new era started in 2008 John Martin and Roy Kirkorian, purchased the brewery. Over the ensuing 10 years, they've expanded brewing capacity, distribution, and started producing West Coast style ales using an abundance of high quality hops and malt. A new 60-barrel brewhouse and fermentation tanks to match, boosted our brewing capacity, ensuring more people could find and enjoy Drake's beer was opened in 2016.

Bottled. Orangeish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is spruce, apricot, some nectar, mild honey and some sweet malts as well. Flavour is quite sweet fruits, mild honey, sweet malts and some slight nutty and even toasted notes. Mellow and easy to drink. Nice floral and fruity bitterness in the aftertaste. Stays for quite a bit.

440ml can from Ales and Lagers, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky medium orange colour with little life. The aroma is big passionfruit and pineapple. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, with a fresh, crisp, tart juicy pineapple palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not much to this apart from the fruit! --- Beer merged from original tick of Block Party on 23 Dec 2022 at 11:00 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Total Wine in Austin provided this 12 oz bottle. No expectations, don't know the brewery, first time with a product of theirs. Pull the cap, lift into a large globe glass. Opaque yellow to orange in body with a sizeable head of near-white foam. The scent is interesting, a curiously boozy effect early, fruit and earth. Then the taste, ripe fruit, a booziness, caramel, grain and a sliver of pine. Not a unusual taste, a number of these recent DIPAs have followed this line. Not that I mind, I am a fan of 120 Minute, my first experience with an out-there IPA.

Poured up on tap at tipsy where it exhibits a deep mahogany colored body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma offers up slim bourbon booze, caramel candy, dates and prunes. Yes. The taste delivers smooth slick malty sweet goodness flowing into sweet figs, dates prunes. To midway the modest booziness kicks in with a smooth sense of bourbon. Solid sipper with plenty of depth and balance.

Can, 0.473l. Aroma of ripe tropical fruit, pine, herbs, citrus and caramel. Pours cloudy amber color with thick creamy tan-like head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts ripe tropical fruity with solid sweet malty backbone, following is herbal, piney and astringent, mouthfeel is warm, mild spicy and rather dry, while finish is heavy bitter. Full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Massive hoppy attack…
