Description
During the dawn of micro-brewing in the Bay Area Roger Lind started Lind Brewing Company, which would later become Drake's Brewing. Lind was a brewer at Triple Rock in Berkeley, one of the first brewpubs in America, and set off on his own to brew draft-only English-style ales. In 1998 Roger Lind sold the brewery to a local coffee company, which continued to brew Drake's beer. A new era started in 2008 John Martin and Roy Kirkorian, purchased the brewery. Over the ensuing 10 years, they've expanded brewing capacity, distribution, and started producing West Coast style ales using an abundance of high quality hops and malt. A new 60-barrel brewhouse and fermentation tanks to match, boosted our brewing capacity, ensuring more people could find and enjoy Drake's beer was opened in 2016.

375ml @ Ryan's shared with Phill.
Aroma: caramel, bold, sweet, just a bir of alcohol.
Taste: along the same lines, very malty, some booze, black tea, a bit of herbal bitterness.
Overall: kinda a refined malty liquor, enjoyable.

Poured from 375mL bottle. Clear amber orange with very minimal white head. A bit sticky and a touch thin, boozy underlay with some port and cognac notes, but don't really pick up the rye whiskey, seems a bit muted, on par with my experience with Drake beers generally - slightly underwhelming. Appreciate it more as it warms - began with a 3.6/5, move it up to 3.8/5, and finally finished at a 4.0/5.

Not sure how many times I've been to the Dealership and managed to not try this beer. Slight haze and pale. Medium head. Has some grape, light tartness, not all that complex but comes across natural.

Tart, no head, pale. Simplistic structure, basic lactic acid and some fruit. It’s fine but below the median.

Medium brown, nitro head. Ok, nitro taste, some roast, muted bitterness. Would have been better on co2, of course.

Pale and slight haze with no head. Acidic, almost bracing. A splash of peach helps it to work, providing just enough sweetness.

Dull haze to this, thin head. Light, almost tea notes, and moderate bitterness. But the lightness of the malts isn’t effective here.

Bright gold. Smells like it’s going to be sticky. There’s some weedy, mushroomy hop notes, the malt is a bit sticky, and then the alcohol comes in harsh late.
