22 oz. bottle. Bottle is over a year old. Don’t remember where the hell I got it. Light retention in the snifter. Nose is rich roasted malts, dark-roasted coffee, dark chocolate. Similar to the nose with a big, rich, peppery maltiness, lots of roasted barley and molasses, alcohol is lightly noticeable. Medium-to lighter in body with a creamy texture. This stout is right on the line of being really great. I feel like it is missing one element to make it really out standing. Still solid overall. Nice work.

Thanks Chris for sharing this one after I got stranded and my flight was cancelled.

A - Completely black just so dark and a nice head that fades fast.

S - Pretty much the nose of a quality imperial stout. all of the standard aromas are there. chocolate, coffee, espresso, chocolate cake, etc. everything is spot on.

T - Wow again, spot on. lots of chocolate, a roasted oak and coffee with waves of nice clean bitterness. malty finish it’s just hard to break down this beer because it’s all imperial stout in all of the right ways.

M - Creamy, filling, very roasted nuts finish that sticks on for a long time.

O - I’m not going to say it’s my favorite stout but it’s in line and in style with every thing I like from Imperial stouts.

Ridiculously deep dark brown coloured body with a large, four centimetre tall deep brown head. A touch of violet gets through at the bottom and is about 90% opaque. Aroma of strong roasted malt, raisins, figs, prunes, vanilla, coffee and chocolate - nice aromas. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense roasted malt flavours with vanilla and oak the strongest tastes, coupled with some milk and brown sugar and finishing with molasses - this is quite strong. Aftertaste is perhaps a bit of a downer with some offensive bitterness from earthy malt, chocolate and a hint of yeast noticeable. Overall, a decent stout, on the border of an imperial stout and also a sweet stout - not great, but nice to sample, especially since this isn’t a common beer for me to see. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Binny’s (South Loop) in Chicago, Illinois on 21-August-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 09-January-2014. Batch #20

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy reddish amber with a half finger of off-white head. Aroma of pine resin with grapefruit and citrus and a very solid malt backbone. Taste is medium bitter. Starts with citrus, grapefruit and mango with a decent toffee and caramel kick in the middle and ends with resinous hops. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, awesome. Every time is have a different beer from these guys I fall a little more in love.
