Can 50cl.Clear light to medium yellow orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, malt sweet, sugar, malty, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft. [20090626]

Canned. Clear golden, airy head. Fruity alcohol aroma. Sweet, fruity and severely alcoholic with medium body and mushy mouthfeel. Vodka dominates completely. A beer for alcoholics only to enjoy.

Bottled. Lightly hazy deep golden, brief head. Fruity nose with lots of cardboard and notes of licorice plus alcohol. Sweet and mushy, no hops detected. Some aniseed comes through in an alcoholic finish.

Bottled. Clear golden, huge firm head. Sweet and fruity. Resiny hop extract bitterness sets in early. Light bodied with no real off flavours, just primitive and without purpose.

Canned(500ml). -Darker golden coloured, small to medium white head, grainy nose with notes of medical alcohol. Dry cardboard and grainy taste with notes of cocoa (wtf?) and alcohol. Boring and not so good beer with stupid name. 8.8%

Boris Bold 8.8 (obviously at 8.8 percent) courtesy of and shared with ogivlado who found it in Slovenia. Poured a full clear golden body with a medium to big thick white head that went away slowly. The nose is.. well... crappy, dry, grainy, lightly acidic. The taste is light, dry graininess, some crappy cocoa, light alcohol and cardboard, some light bitterness. Not offensive but not all that pleasant. Still, what can be expected from Saverne.

Can, 8.0%. Subtle peppery aroma. Clear golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is quite sweet, slightly caramelly. Rough finish, chemical with some sewer. Also quite alcoholic in the finish, but warming and not too bad.

First review! Found this on the bottom shelf of a local French supermarket. Attracted to the low low price and the high alcohol content. Very heavy malt flavour, alcohol is hidden pretty well. Not bad for a cheap high-alcohol beer, not even remotely close to great.
