Cheap can from Chalet Premier, nice place. What's the story with all these record hop volumes? Seems pretty stupid to me. JMHO. Anyway, this #9 pours like a NEIPA. Milky cloudy with a big foamy head. Smell of this is just like any other NEIPA, its somewhat sweet on the olfactory with a mild hint of BO and diesel. Not sure why Son wrote hazy pale ale on the can, because the first taste is that of a typical IPA. If the brewer was worried about the alky content, they should have written this off as a session IPA. Its simply not as well behaved as a good pale ale should be, tho I have tasted many pale ales that were certainly IPA bastardized, just like this. Although some carbonation is detectable if you search for it, there is barely any there, mays well say its flat. Taste is bitter ass IPA with just a hint of fruit at the tip of the tongue. Yea, this is no pale ale, fer sure. I'm chewing on mouth coating fermenting green grapefruit rinds along with the juice of a freshly squeezed green pine cone. There, you have it.

Not much for these pastry beers, a little apprehensive. Especially when I pop the lid to this can, it does smell totally like sweet cinnamon rolls. Not sure if I'll like a beer that supposed to taste like cinnamon rolls. Pour is almost clear pale with a thick white bubble head that fades rapidly. First taste is of course very sweet, cloying sweet. Second gulp has weird back of throat developments. Odd processed feel setting in on the palate. Not sure if I can drink the rest of this but I'll attempt. Middle is getting rude and crude, more sickening cloying. Of course most pastry brews come across to me like that. Finish is an unbalanced ending of sugary sweet bullshit. Look, I like cinnamon rolls but this stuff is borderline nasty. At least it possesses some carbonation. If it was flat, it would have been a drain pour but I did it; I finished the whole can, what an accomplishment in torture.

Can of one of my favorite styles. Pours super dark with a beauty of a tan craggy head tat does not fade. Nose is that of old damp edible campfire wood. First taste is schwartz fer sure, a little more body than a plain old dark lager. Some of that old damp campfire wood carries over tot he tongue. My palate says it could use a little more co2 but that does not distract from the enjoyability factor of the taste. Mellow friendly dark beer attitude. I'm liking this. I like this style and this sets up a good example of said style. Easy, civil, beer tasting experience. Darn, the can is empty already! Finishes with a mild burnt ending.
