Bottle (missed it on tap). Pours with a opaque orange body and a small off-white head. Aroma is intense with nut mega and cinnamon! Some brown sugar, mace, clove and molasses. Kind of an odd onion finish to the aroma. Flavor is of nutmeg (TONS of it), cumin (odd...sort of a sweaty flavor), light cinnamon, molasses. Really heavy on the nutmeg and light on the other spices. Nearly adds a powderiness to the beer. Prickly bubbles. A pretty decent pumpkin beer. Not great, but good.

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours a lightly cloudy orange with a small, off-white head. Belgian sugar aroma with some apple and spice. Sweet flavor with plenty of caramel, spices and some nice hoppiness. Medium to full in body with average carbonation and definite warmth. Finishes with lingering fruits and coriander. Nice beer.

Sample at Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. The beer pours black with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of charred malt, coffee and peppers. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt, roasted coffee and peppery undertones. The finish is roasty with a mild pepper burn left over. Pretty good overall, as the pepper character is subtle throughout.

On draught at Heroes in Fullerton. The beer is a clear dark orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Floral hops and grain in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character that has floral and pine notes. Bready malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a rye and grain aftertaste. Decent brew overall.

22oz bomber poured into go a tall water glass. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet subdued molasses, coffee, which is light and not over the top. The aroma is dark and fumy, and no pepper. Flavor is again no pepper but some chocolate from the malts, coffee - fumy but very well done, not ashy or bitter. I look for the pepper which does not appear until a few minutes after drinking, in my throat there is a faint pepper burn. What I like particularly about this beer is a great soft and warm feel on the cheeks with a velvety feel down the throat. A nice brew, not as fun as I was hoping for and has a really nice mouthfeel.

Bomber from Pizza Port Bottle Shop. Pours black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is smooth burnt malt with spice notes. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth burnt malt - really smooth - with a lot of chocolate, a little coffee, and a smattering of chipotle. Finishes chocolate with the chilies coming out more strongly. Interesting, but not intense.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Coffee and light caramel aroma with light roastiness. Chili and coffee flavor with light chocolate and caramel. Medium bodied. Chili and coffee lingers with light dark chocolate.

On tap at the Brewery. I don’t really love the flavor of Acai, and the brewer, Aaron, says that the oils in the berries kills the head, so I acknowledge that. Pours with a murky red body with some particles. Aroma is sharp, fruity, berry, acetic and vanilla. Taste is fruity, acai (which I don’t love), sour, acidic, acetic with some fuzzy berry bits. Lively bubbles with a dry and acidic finish.

On tap. Pours with a hazy golden body and no head. Aroma is wine, sour, vinegar and vanilla. Taste is lightly sour and fruit forward up front with a huge esophagus and stomach burning acetic finish. Dry and burn.

On tap (listed as Brewer Rod’s West Coast IPA (a Citra-centric 7% IPA). Pours with a slightly hazed golden body and a large white head. Aroma is dank, herbal, mango and tropical fruits. A light sweetness I normally associate with Amarillo. Taste is dry, light grain, citrusy, dank and herbal, with a lingering citrus bitterness. Some tropical fruit in the finish. Dry with medium carbonation. Really well done!
