On tap at Moon Tower. Pours a cloudy copper with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is grapefruit and dank. Medium body, grapefruit, pine, lingering bitterness, good.

16oz can, just hit the stores. Clear golden beer with a cute little leftover lacing and head. I don’t know the point of it. It’s a bit bitter, green, not fruity. Dry bitter aftertaste. Just does nothing for me this new hop that’s just like the old hop.

Pour is a clear amber with a large white head. Aroma is a nice tropical fruit with a little berry in there. It aroma is not eye popping but its plenty fruit heavy. Flavor is more sweetish malt with a big bitterness. Hops show up but the bitterness really shows up after the swallow. I have never had this hop before and I was expecting a big juicy fruit bomb of an IPA but turned out to be a bit bitter and harsh.

12oz bottle. Amber brown body, not much a head. Sweet, one dimensional stuff. Brown sugar, raisin, caramel. Completely lacks the effervescent mouthfeel or depth of a good Belgian brown, just seems streamlined and incomplete. Not bad or off, just another mediocre offering.

Coffee- and chocolate-flavored stout, can shared by Ster at tderoeck’s place, big cheers for this as it happens to be my first Kansas beer and therefore a new ’state tick’... Pale yellowish beige, lacing, moussy head over a black beer with burgundy-hued edges. Strong aroma of milk chocolate and dark chocolate sauce, mocha ice cream, bitter cocoa, vanilla, cappuccino, fragrant coffee powder, pipe tobacco, whisky, burnt wood, dried fig, toasted coconut, butterscotch. Restrained ’dried’ fruit sweetness in the onset, hints of fig, raisin and dried banana, umami accent, softish carbo with a very thick, oily, creamy mouthfeel as is to be expected from an imperial stout. Deep malty middle, some sourish roasted barley turning mouth-filling bitter in the end, over a toffeeish and chocolatey malt sweet core; coffee presence is noticeable retronasally and adds extra aroma and flavour. Vanilla- and milk chocolate-like impressions in the finish too, but also a strong, heating, bourbon-like alcohol presence, eventually becoming a bit (too) wry on the root of the tongue. This beer being a tad too alcoholic even for its style is the only problem I have with it: otherwise this is a highly accomplished, rich and fragrant stout, in which the added coffee and chocolate are well-integrated into the whole rather than simply lying on top of it.

Shaker pint draft at The Burg & Barrel in Overland Park, Kansas. The pour is a mostly clear yellow golden with a small white head. The aroma is a slightly sweet floral, honey with a traditional Saison yeast and a faint dank body odor towards the back. The taste is the floral honey sweet, hay, Saison yeast and soft earth dank in the finish. The palate is medium bodied with a soft unfiltered mouth feel. Sweet lingering aftertaste. Solid.
