Description
For us, good living means exploring – the opposite of “comfortable.” It’s not just about craft, but about questing, questioning, transforming “What If” into “Here’s How,” by way of an experiment so crazy, it just might work.
Exploration is the line from local beer maker to World-Class Brewer. It’s a pioneer impulse, and it sets the authentic, rural heartbeat of Southern Tier. It’s how we got here. And by the time others catch up, it’ll be why we’re already somewhere else.
From our wildly innovative founder, Phin DeMink, who’s still a daily inspiration, to the new generation of brewers, thinkers, and drinkers who share our pursuit of what’s next, we keep honing the creative edge of brewing discovery.
So this is an open invitation, to anyone who gives a damn about the difference between a well-crafted beer and a stunningly satisfying encounter with the new. Join us on the road less traveled.

Part of a "beers of Christmas" box set I was gifted (otherwise, I don't think I'd be drinking this). Pours a dark, reddish-brown, with rather small head. Aroma is cardamom, clove, ginger, other spice. Flavors follow. Mouthfeel is fairly clean and crisp, given the adjuncts. Really not my thing, but your mileage may vary...

Can from Busch's. Pours a caramel brown with a full two fingers of off-white foam that lingers. Aromas of cardamom, fig, orange zest and ginger. The palate shows a lot of ginger and cardamom. Big spiced floral notes on the finish that linger with some zing from the orange zest. Enjoyable spiced ale.

The strawberry is artificial AF. Otherwise a decent dessert ale.

Artificial cherry, with a bit of like a sasparilla finish. Not bad but not quite what I expected.

AROMA: Sweet, with strong scents of caramel and butterscotch. I also get a very slight hint of bubblegum at the end. It is a very delicious smelling beer!
APPEARANCE: Pours a clear medium-amber with a 2-finger, tight-froth, white head that dissipates slowly with moderate lacing. It looks very inviting in my clear glass!
TASTE: Sweet, with big flavors of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla. I do get a bit of the nut flavor on the back-end, but you really have to "wait" for it. I do wish the nut flavor was more pronounced. But to be fair, chestnuts don't have a whole lot of flavor, on their own, to begin with.
Yes, the beer is sweet, but I find it to be at a tolerable level. Meaning, I can drink an entire beer without my palate becoming fatigued. However, I'm not sure I would want to drink 2 of these, in a row.
MOUTHFEEL: Full-bodied with a smooth, silky texture. Carbonation is a bit below average. The finish is long and smooth. This a very luxurious feeling beer with a body that is deceptively thick.
OVERALL: I'm kinda diggin' this beer. I find the aroma, flavor, and body to be very alluring, and its style fits nicely with the holidays. There are a lot of seasonal beers that I've tried that I think to myself, "why don't they make this year-round?". This is not one of those beers as it, definitely, would not be as enjoyable at any other time of the year. Mostly, because of the sweetness factor. However, as a "holiday" beer, I find it quite enjoyable and would gladly buy it next year, if it is available.

Aromas are dark malt, pumpkin and maple. Flavors are similar to nose and moderately sweet with enough bitter and carbonation to balance. Add in a bit of toast. Not really my thing but if it's yours probably decent.

Pittsburgh Location. Black with a medium sized creamy beige head that lingered. Bitter, roasty and a touch smoky with notes of wood and coffee. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.
