Description
For us, good living means exploring – the opposite of “comfortable.” It’s not just about craft, but about questing, questioning, transforming “What If” into “Here’s How,” by way of an experiment so crazy, it just might work.

Exploration is the line from local beer maker to World-Class Brewer. It’s a pioneer impulse, and it sets the authentic, rural heartbeat of Southern Tier. It’s how we got here. And by the time others catch up, it’ll be why we’re already somewhere else.

From our wildly innovative founder, Phin DeMink, who’s still a daily inspiration, to the new generation of brewers, thinkers, and drinkers who share our pursuit of what’s next, we keep honing the creative edge of brewing discovery.

So this is an open invitation, to anyone who gives a damn about the difference between a well-crafted beer and a stunningly satisfying encounter with the new. Join us on the road less traveled.

A dense off-white head over an iridescent mahogany/red body. Big, fresh taste elements leading with apricots, toffee, citrus hops, malt, honey and dark berries. Sweet, but the additional elements round it out nicely. Very slick and slightly cloying. A lovely rich BW nonetheless.

Sweet malt, bitter hops and slightly burnt toffee on the nose. the body is sweet and rich with buttery toffee, caramel malt, apricots, raisins, astringent citrus hops and some dark berries. Thick and a bit sticky with a bit of booziness. Not bad at all.

A dense, low tan head on a near black body. A punchy nose features chocolate fudge cake, a touch of coffee and orange. A luscious dessert beer. Taste features chocolate, big orange, crème brule, cream and cake. A Grande Marnier heat and a touch of pepper add to the experience. Sweet, dense and a touch sticky. Great in small amounts.

A thin, tight light tan head on a near black body. The nose is strong, featuring chocolate brownies, vanilla, and dark berries. As promised in the name, Salted Caramel is a significant taste player, but the lead element is chocolate, cream and crème brule. It is sweet. This is bolstered by a solid vanilla presence, some nuttiness, raisins and a touch of fruity hops. Chocolate fudge emerges late. It is well supported by a solid effervescence and rich body. A lovely concoction!

Aromas are caramel, pumpkin spice, floral. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, mildly sweet and add in some metallic. Fairly subdued for a pumpkin beer and that's nice.

From a can pour is dirty hazy pale. Slight blackberry nose. First taste impression is that its just another dull fruit beer with some lemonade added to help increase the tartness. Lemonade seems like an adjunct afterthought in this one. Although it has decent carbonation and the lemon helps out with the texture, its still can't hide that its a dull fruit beer. It never recovers. In the middle, I'm wondering where is the blackberry? Yes, there was a blackberry aroma but its totally lacking in the taste, the lemonade is the overriding factor here. Well, in the end I can tell there is some beer in here. Oh well, on the finish, I guess it aint too bad but instead of ST trying to make a thousand different beers and trying to sell them, even if they are half ass; they should try to focus on what they do best. Anybody know what that is?
