In July 2014, Harpoon became an employee owned company, with 48% of the company given to employees through the establishment of an ESOP. An E-what? ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan. It is a mechanism by which a company contributes to its employees’ retirement by allocating shares to them which it repurchases…..yadda, yadda, yadda… Here’s what it means: we are employee owned, we are an independent craft brewer, and you bet we’re damn proud of it.

Hazy orangey yellow from bottle. Floral hops, medium to light body. Pretty smooth and good.

Dark black poiur from the tiger. Whitish head. Lots of resiny piney hops, not as much sweetness as some black ipa’s. goood.

Draught from habitat. Orangey brown clear pour. Moderate head. Hops and grain aroma. Bitter finish.

Bottled. Pours dark, somewhat of a thinner mouthfeel, a pretty easy drinking chocolate malty stout.

Pours orangey, medium head, some spices and fruits and hops. unspectacular but not bad either.

Bottled. Pours dark. Nice and sizable head. Nutty malty aroma and taste. Reminded me more of a schwarz than a dunkel.

Draught. Brown to amber pour. Mild head with lacing. Malty with earthy notyes and some caramel. Hops finish.

Draught from Waterfront-Manhattan. Poured quite dark for a dunkel with substantial head, lots of strong oaky and vanilla notes. Quite unusual for a dunkel but in a good way.

Draught. Poured a bready brown with a mild head. Earthy taste, or maybe I’m just taking the landbier thing to literally, with mild caramel and hopsyness

Poured a dark amber. Minor head. Aroma was a bit of hops and some caramel as was taste. Decent.
