Description
De Kromme Haring is all about surprising, well-made, delicious and drinkable beers.
Biologist and homebrewer Stephen Grigg travelled from America via the UK to settle in the Netherlands as (homebrewery) De Kromme Haring. After meeting beer-afficionado Gijs van Wiechen, who invited him to brew the anniversary beer for infamous bar-dive Kafe Belgie, the two decided to "go pro" in 2014.
After the first tentative, educational and sometimes frustrating steps in contractbrewing they quickly decided that they needed their own system and place to pursue their aproach to brewing. This cunning plan came to fruition when they opened their very own brewpub in september 2016, with the brewery installed in december 2016.
With over 20 years of brewing experience, we have cultivated a deep love for English malts and American hops. However, we love yeast even more and believe that the quality of fermentation is at the core of all well-made beer. Knowing how to work with many different kinds of yeast, both "clean" and "wild", is what sets us apart.
Our brewery and yeast lab allows us to experiment with lesser known and used yeast strains in our brewery. Part of our brewery is even dedicated to stainless steel fermenting with wild yeasts like Brettanomyces and/or blended cultures, creating surprising and delicious flavours.

330ml can. Slightly cΓΆoudy, amber colour with average, super dense, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Citrusy fruity, minimally leafy, hoppy aroma, caramel malty background, notes of lemon, lemon tea, a touch of orange, mandarine, marmalade. Taste is moderately bitter, citrusy fruity hoppy, pale and caramel malty basis with low residual sweetness and a touch of peanut, notes of lemon, a touch of grapefruit, lemon juice, citric acid.
Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy, simultaneously slightly dry palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Almost more tart-ish than bitter, rather ordinary, old-school (West Coast) IPA - OK.

Bottle. Hazy golden with huge white head. Yeasty, white wine, indeed a lot of Nelson Sauvin hops but mostly it reminds of me of oak aged white wine. Dry malts, grassy, sour plums, alcohol, light cow dung. Medium sweet and bitter, light sour. Heave but dry body, a bit boozy. Complex and interesting, but in the end not really my thing.

330ml can. Minimally cloudy, orange, dark golden colour with small to average, frothy, slowly diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly bready and minimally spicy, pale and wheaty malty, slightly floral hoppy and minimally yeast spicy aroma, hints of petals, viola, bread crust, spicy bread. Taste has typical hints of non-alcohol beer, slightly diluted hints of crisp bread, slightly mineral hop bitterness, floral hoppy overtones.
Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium to coarse, prickly carbonation.
Light, fairly refreshing, passably disguised and not too doughy low/NA beer flavours - OK.

Can at home. Quite hazy oeange golden with wnormous white head. Hard to pour. Quite zesty, spicy hops, oats, oeange blossom, honey, green tea, peach. Medium sweet, less bitter. Medium bodied, a soft dryness towards the finish, quite some carbonation. Not bad.
