Sampled at Texas Beerfest. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. The aroma is a faint wheat and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with a bland wheat and citrus. Not much going on with this one.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 7/2/11

Aroma: Decently hoppy aroma, but the hops are overshadowed by the butterscotch and caramel malts
Appearance: It pours into the glass a clear reddish-orange color and a small head with light lace
Flavor: The flavor is much like the nose, with the hops again overshadowed by the malts
Palate: This one is medium bodied, it has a stickiness to it, and a little bit of booziness to it as well
Overall Impression: I found this one to be fairly underwhelming. The hops just don't standout the way they should in this style. It feels overly sugary and malty to me, almost like they made an accidental Barleywine. Odd stuff, it is unfortunate that this one didn't work out, because I wanted it to be better.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours orange-gold with a transient white head. Fresh citrus aroma. Flavor is light caramel with some floral, fruit and citrus bitter. Hey, even suggested strawberry for a moment. Good solid ale.

The pour produces a clear gold with a good firm mostly white head. The aroma is fresh citrus hops and pine with a hint of juicy malt trying to push up through all of those hop aromas. The flavor is lightly bitter and the malts that were a little suppressed in the aroma come through better now. Not overwhelming in any sense, but a decent IIPA.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours gold with a creamy white head. Decent bready aroma. Little hop there. Crisp. Clean, tho finishing bready. Minimal hop. Not harmful. Not worth it.

I was thinking dry stout or mild while drinking it, but the alcohol might be a little too high. Roasted grain, good smooth palate with some body. Mild all around. Better as it warmed from refrigerator temperature to room temperature.

Ahh, if only this beer’s taste matched its appearance. 2012 looks great, with a dark, dark brown-black color and nice head. But the taste is pedestrian and weak, eschewing the typical lovely roasted bitterness of a black ale for a bland, oddly fruity front that tapers off into a nothing finish. Skip it.

Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours very dark brown with a decent creamy tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt. Med body. Flavor of slightly sour burnt malt with dark fruit and some mild hop. Finishes slightly sweet. Interesting and unusual.
