Typical american lager. Light yellow color. No real aroma. Flavor has a small hop taste to it with a bit of malt. Above average and better than most macros.

Mild aroma of corn. good appearance, gold with a sizeable head. Flavor of corn and hops. Good palate. Corn is the dominant feature of this better than average lager/pils.

Bottled, Dated for Spring 2003. Thin head that disappears quickly over a ruby to brown body. Pleasant honey and malt aroma. The taste is a tad sugary for me, though. It does bring out a nice dark malt character, with German hops in good balance.

Aroma of malt. Light brown with no head. Flavor...I could swear this is Sam Adams. Does calling it a bock make it a bock? I say no.

Slightly cloudy. Aroma of a hefe weizen, and one of the few beers where I can actually find banana in the aroma. Flavor of a mild hefeweizen. Thin. ok.

Hazy yellow colour. Some coriander and marshmallow aroma, alongside grainy notes, oatcakes and honey. Palate is light, slightly honeyish, sweet, with hints of coriander and a very light yeast presence.

Why pick this as my 100th RateBeer? I don’t have any exotic or rare brews handy, having already rated the World Wide Stout. I thought of going the other way and sampling a Santiago; but even for a 7-Eleven beer, it was overpriced, and I’d be left with five more bottles. Then I saw this on sale for $5 a sixer at the store. Here’s a long-standing brand that’s returned to local control after a disastrous period of ownership by Barton Brands, and is now back in the Chicago market. That’s the kind of beer story we need to hear more about!
And it’s a nice beer. A foamy head that dissipates quickly, but underneath is a noticable darker beer than most pilseners, with a constant stream of tiny bubbles. The malt has a slightly toasty taste, with a nice hop balance and nice effervescence. Some adjunct is hinted at, but not noticeable. It leaves a nice malty aftertaste behind. It’s a standard beer that’s almost good for sipping slowly.Re-visited, 3/30/08. Found a loose bottle at Binny’s on Rt. 83, and thought it was time for a revisit. It’s not an "Anniversary Beer," but just has label info that this is the brewery’s 150th anniversary. I think my original rating may be higher than I might give it today, but not by much. It is darker than other pale lagers, but middlin’ compared to pilseners, true. But it still has some decent malt character you’d never find in a BMC, a light hop presence, and a hint of cereal adjuncts. Better than more than a few German imports to have crossed my palate, and one of my default "cheap brews."

Bottled. It's a pretty tasty Wisconsin version of a Belgian biere. Appearance is yellow-white. Good wheaty head, and a pleasant coriander spicy bite, with clove just beneath. If they had a rating for “value,” this one would get a “10,” since I found it for $6 a sixer in Wisconsin.

This was just labelled as James Page Amber - assuming its the same beer. Fizzy light amber with no head! Caramelly and briny aroma. Rich butterscotch flavor and light finish. Decent.

Very pale, almost white. Aroma of citrus fruit and cloves. Standard aroma and flavor of other Belgian whites, but both of these qualities are understated in this beer. Thin on the palate. Not as good as Blue Moon, and certainly not as good as Hoegaarden or Wittekerke, but it was also very inexpensive. Not a bad beer.
