500ml can at home. Pours a cola-like dark brown. Almost no head here at all, dissipates quickly and no lacing on the glass. Thin watery mouthfeel, a bit of coffee and roasted nutty character on the nose but extremely slight. Taste is equally slight, very little coffee, dirt, a bit of roasted bean flavour. Weak attempt, expected more to be honest.

440ml can at home. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold, thick pillowy off-white head. Nice juicy hoppy aroma, a bit muted from the the thick head. Flavour is a little thin and watery compared to the lucious aroma. Nice bitter finish but again, a bit watery. Would like to see this in the 6-6.5% abv, would make a big difference.

Can from O'Brien's, Athlone [110818]
Amber, crystal clear, fluffy white head
Aroma of soft citrus zest, lemon, dab of grassy hops, aroma dissipates
Taste of citrus zest, lemon, bitter grassy hops, light digestive biscuit pale malts, bit unusual in a good way, plenty of flavour
Palate - Medium carb, medium light body, little oily, light bitter and sweet. Finish as main flavour, biscuit malt, finish gets more bitter with the drinking
Overall - Different take on a pale ale
