Description
Christian Bourganel, entrepreneur and innovator, lover of beer and Ardèche, was considering a solution to promote these two elements. After a few months of reflection and work with the IFBM (Institut Français de Brasserie et Malterie) in Nancy, the fruit beers of the Ardèche were born in 1997, initially brewed by the Brasserie Castelain, but the stated objective was the creation of a micro-brewery in Ardèche.

The installation of the brewery in Vals les Bains is done in 2000 and on June 1, 2000, the Brasserie Bourganel offered its first Ardèche brew to local customers. Faced with the success of these beers, the Bourganel Brewery acquired new, more efficient equipment in 2004, and since then, each year, expansions have been carried out. In February 2006, the brewing room was changed and fermentation and aging tanks were added to increase the production capacity to 4,000 hectoliters per year.

750ml flip top bottle. Mellow, clean, malty beer..classic Bierre de Garde base. Sweet caramel. Not unlike a big Southern Tier dessert beer in the depth of sweet flavor, except this has a really clean, sessionable body. Delicious nutty caramel, butterscotch richness. Unapologetic sugary sweetness. Cool beer.

Bottle shared by beastiefan2k - thanks? - lightly hazy gold - nose is pretty much nothing but buttery nougat with light floral notes underneath - smells like it’s plagued with diacetyl, even though it is not - flavor is very light and moderately toasty, so much like the aroma, you mostly taste nougat, which of course, just makes it taste like a diacetyl bomb - pretty terrible.

New Beer Distributors, NY 750ml ($7): Pours a red that is just read enough that you know there are berries and shit in there. Head is pink, so yeah. Aroma reminds me of a combination of pale lager and the raspberry syrup I used to put into seltzer as a kid. Taste is fruity and fortunately not too sweet. The fruity side is fine, but the beer side is sort of lacking. I purchased this on a whim, but the price tag should have steered me away.

750 fliptop from Corti Brothers in Sacramento, CA. Pours light golden amber with a slight white head and some floaties. Aroma of sweet malt and marshmallow. Med body. Flavor is almond and walnut, marshmallow and some light malt. Far from bitter, but not sticky sweet. Finishes nutty in a odd way. Might be several types of nuts. Certainly interesting. Definitely drinkable.

Slight haze on this green beer!!! Tidy white head. Light crispy palate, semi dry. Shandy! Tastes a little like a shandy and a pleasant one at that but the herby flavours from the liqueur drag that notion away. Crisp finish. Unusual beer but quite drinkable!
