At DESTIHL, we brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing & because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. Cheers!
DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. DESTIHL has become a brand, but we have not strayed from our roots. We take pride in our values and will continue to grow and support our local community. We promise to deliver on these uncompromising beliefs. Every beer we brew is unique. So, whether you share it or hoard it, we hope you enjoy it. After all, you deserve it.
Can from Systembolaget. Aroma of physillis. Gold. Watermelon and Kiwi taste but I can also see the coconut and passion fruit clearly when prompted. Quite strong pucking sour but quite unsettling watery.
12oz can from Hops & Bottles. Clear amber pour, one finger off-white foamy head settles out. Caramel aroma, brown bread. Taste is toasty malts, caramel, bread, minor sweetness and a light crisp finish.
Pour is cherry red with a large white head. Aroma is red wine vinegar with some cherry must. Flavor is cherry juice with a minor tartness with some pie crust. Finish leaves a tart cherry on the tongue. Not as puckering and tart as some Belgian versions but this was very flavorful and spot on for a Flanders red.
Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2023. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of peach, earthy wheat and some sweet grains. Flavor has sweet but earthy peach with notes of bread and wheat backing.
Pretty average, with caramel and toasted bread underlined by a floral hop spiciness and a tinge of donut shop coffee. Finishes drier than expected. Not bad.
OK, picked up this cheap can in a $11 mixed sixer. I've checked out all of the destihl sours I could find; all of the dehstil wild sour brews possible, they've got good at it, the sour (or wild?) beer thing; that is. This is no exception. It looks like a cloudy tart pale beer to start. Smell is like a Cantillon. Each taste is friendly, yet not in yer face sour, just plain good tart beer thing going on here. Very good co2 level as well, combines nicely with the tart promoted attitude to keep you wondering if this is cutting; er not? Yea, good over all beer tasting experience. Never been disappointed with a DS sour tart. Thanks dahsteel. One thing tho, I don't particularly like peach beers, but this is OK.
