Description
Une Anneé, an Independent Craft Brewery, was born, in 2013, on the near west side of Chicago, with the quest of making fine Belgian inspired ales for all beer lovers. Founded by architect and Chicago native, Jerry Nelson, Une Anneé, has expanded it’s offerings over the years with an emphasis on fruited and unfruited American Wile Ales and Barrel Aged Stouts. In 2017, the brewery moved to neighboring Chicago suburb, Niles, IL and expanded to include a taproom. The working brewery in the background lends a hand to creating a laid back atmosphere where you can sit back and enjoy some of your favorite craft beers on tap.

That cap was holding on for dear life, a true hero, what you see in the photo is more or less what survived the 750ml, it's delicious though! Lots and lots of strawberry sweetness upfront, lemony funky finish, mildly tart. Bubbly but not overly. Lemonade!

750ml probably sat on for 4 years, way too long. I don't get any papaya, everything is just overbearing sour. Nail polish devolved sour nonsense. Not good at all.

I obtained a pint can of Quad from Halftime late last year. An unseasonably cool day, I think it is a good time to sample a quadrupel. The tab is pulled and I pour into a Delirium tulip glass. Delivery is a chestnut brown with a minimal head. I smell ripe dark fruit and perhaps some grain. Fortunately the taste is a big step up. Dates, malt, whole wheat bread, dark raisins, sorghum and hard candy. Chewy, I like the sensation. Nicely done.

The label on the 16 oz can says Belgian Inspired Imperial Stout. I like the sound of that. This 2021 vintage brew came from Half Time, the tab is flipped and I pour inside of my New Belgium tulip glass. The arrival is a dark mocha brown liquid with a head of finely bubbled, light tan foam. An inviting smell, chocolate, fruit and grain. And is that yeast too? The glass is lifted for the drink. Wow, this is pretty decent. A light chocolate intro along with malt, strawberries, wheat bread, plums and yes, there is yeast also. Lots of dark ale sweetness with imperial stout taste and heft. I am reminded greatly of the Ommegang/Alesmith collaboration beer, Philosophy and Velocity: East Coast Edition, which is the better of the two versions. Very much, to me anyway, an equitable combo of imperial stout and Belgian ale. Good venture.

Kinda feels like chocolate notes too or maybe the truck load of vanilla is tripping me out. Cool light funk, tart berries.

2021 edition. Black body, thick brown head. Vinous nose with dark leathery fruits, coffee, and toasted sugars. Sweet body, lots of grape and berries, also cocoa powder and a touch of clove. Odd, unbalanced. It's hard to believe this is really 10.6% ABV.
