Description
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

Brewed in Canada under Belgian Moon Mango Wheat by Molson. Pours a hazy light golden-orange colour with a creamy warm cap, good retention and creamy lacing. Beautiful mango aromas with hints of other tropical fruits and wheat sweetness. The taste is more like natural ripe mangos as written on can. Nicely balanced lightly-dry mouthfeel with a crisp clean finish. Gets a tad rich, but overall quite well-brewed and fruity.

I once drank Blue Moon occasionally, hardly ever now. I had this serving in a tall pilsner glass with a slice of orange at an upscale restaurant. The appearance is appealing, cloudy orange with a firm top of white bubbles. I have a smell, orange peel. And the taste is, no surprise, a subdued orange, grain, honey and just a bare touch of spiciness.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper with a near-beige head. Aroma has some spice, clearly not pie spice - at least to me. Med body. Well, the flavor is rather pie spice. I'd rather have it strictly Belgian, but it's ok.
