On gravity at the Portcullis, Bristol 11/12/08. Pale chestnut in colour with a slight, off-white head. Huge clove aroma, evident feet from the glass, with some fruity malt in support. Flavour began vaguely sweet, before warming cloves and earthy hops, leading to a decent bitter finish. A good Christmas beer, which although pungently spiced was very drinkable. Good stuff.

On gravity at the Portcullis, Bristol 11/12/08. Deep amber with next to no head. Aroma of floral hops, caramel and oranges. Fruity, sweet flavour with plenty of jamminess, citrus hops and a decent dry finish. Alcohol was extremely well hidden. Good stuff.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 13/11/08. Pale gold with a frothy white head. Big, hoppy aroma with plenty of grassiness and some citrus fruit. Flavour began with some sweet malt, a slight graininess and then lots of more fruity hops, leading to a long dry finish. Very drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 5/10/08. Deep amber in colour with reddish undertones and a lacy, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with some indeterminate spicing and earthy hops. The flavour started with some sweet malt before hints of ginger and other spices (coriander?) leading to a short bitter finish. A decent beer to head towards winter to.

Cask at GBBF08. Clear shiny pale golden colour. Small frothy white head. Slightly thin flavour, some citrus from the hops, thin malt body. Refreshing, but perhaps a bit boring.

Cask@GBBF2008. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, grass and some mild wooden notes. Flavour is quite dry fruits, some grass and wood. Nice balance and mediumdry palate.

500ml bottle from Utobeer. Orange/red with lasting deep beige head. Lovely earthy hop aroma. Oh that is nice. Just shows what British brewers CAN do. Good malts, some red fruit, gorgeous red fruit, vanilla and earthy aroma. Subtle and agile ni mouth for a 6% beer. It’s just a lovely Xmas beer. Finish has a bit of sting. I wouldn’t have thought this was 6%. Rather lovely.
