Description
Great beer, great service, great space. Boiler Brewing Company and tap room is located in downtown Lincoln in the historic Grand Manse building. The stately stature of the Grand Manse is accurately reflected in the bold beers that brewmaster Tim Thomssen prefers to make. Aside from the ever rotating list of beers, mead and cider, food is also available. A unique experience in every glass.

Bottle thanks to Adam. Pours a pitch black color with a medium brown head. A big roasty nose, coffee. Big sweet coffee, dark fruity, sweet sugary, very good.

Deep brown coloured body with a tan head, about two centimetres thick - nice. Aroma of bourbon, scotch, pure alcohol, deep malts and a little pure sugar. Full-bodied; Insanely rich malt and scotch flavours with a huge dose of grain and alcohol that shows for quite a long time, with some more earthier and grainy flavours that finish a bit lighter and leave some nutty flavours on the surface. Aftertaste shows the pure alcohol flavour with a nice bourbon and rich scotch bite that doesn't fade at all and shows a lot of alcohol - perhaps way more than 12,5%! Overall, a ridiculously rich and super potent beer that may not be ready for primetime - instead to keep barrel/ bottle aged/conditioned for a year or so to mute out the alcohol and pungency from this one. I sampled this four ounce pour on draught from the brewpub/restaurant on 13-March-2018 for US$4,25 sampled while in Lincoln, Nebraska for the first time ever, while having Imperial IPAs, the barley wine and some rich fruit-beer (that was the best), which showed a nice range for the brewery!

Even though I love the state of Hawai'i and have been there more than 10 times, I reserve the right to be honest. Insanely hazy and ridiculously pink/peach coloured body that is 100% opaque - but pink. Aroma of pure tropical fruits - passionfruit, mangoes, papaya and more guava imagine able. Full-bodied; Insanely rich in fruit notes that easily shows much more of a juice than a beer with fruits, sour, tart and sweet flavours that hit way before any malt or alcohol. Aftertaste is much more fruit and tart-centrric than beer, and the complexity shows juice that would be more normal Kauai than in Milwaukee, I a great way. Overall, an amazing juxtaposition on a beer versus juice that seems to do everything just right, but somehow seems seems like fruit juice and not beer, still! This one is a crossover beer for sure, and if my wife were here, there would be none left! I sampled this sixteen ounce pour for US$7,00 sampled on draught at the brewpub/restaurant on 13-March-2018 for US$7,00 while in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Super hazy golden and peach coloured body with hardly any head at all, perhaps a tiny sliver of a tan head. Aroma of crisp and funky, dirty sweat-sock resin with a lot of pine and a nice balance of malt, some subtle yeast and alcohol and even more grassy and herbal bitterness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong grassy and some tropical fruits come out, but much more grass and herbal hoppiness with some noticeable resin right behind with a touch of pure citrus and grain right afterwards. Aftertaste shows the fruits and bitter pungency throughout without much malt or bite, but there is some nice sweetness and a lot of juice notes that make this go down easily, with the very grassy finishes. Overall, a very nice and enjoyable New England-based IPA from the middle of Nebraska on draught that should be sampled if you can get it fresh! Very properly balanced that was sampled alongside the Dos Doble and Simcoe, and while I thought the plain Doble was the best, all three were respectable. I sampled this four ounce pour on draught for US$4,00 sampled at the brewpub/taproom on 13-March-2017 for the first time ever being in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Super hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of crisp and super pungent tropical fruits and super apricot-y fruit scents with a nice balance of malt, some subtle yeast and alcohol and even more fruity bitterness. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and tropically fruity hop flavour at first with a big dose of pine and resin right behind with a touch of pure citrus and grain right afterwards. Aftertaste shows the fruits and bitter pungency throughout without much malt or bite, but there is some nice sweetness and a lot of juice notes that make this go down easily. Draft. A- Weak, plastic, cocoa, mole sauce. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Weak, cocoa, rubber, cinnamon, mild peppers. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Boiler typically does very flavorful beers, especially stouts. With all the mole stouts out there now I had high hopes. This one really lacked on the flavor and was nuanced a bit too much. Really needed more of everything. Not bad, but lacking.

Draft. A- Coffee, mild mocha. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Black coffee, dry, roasty, mild bitterness. P- Medium body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- Quite tasty but very focused on the coffee. Coffee is about all that comes through. Could use more of a sweet chocolate but still good.

Draft. A- Playdough, bready, mild cinnamon. A- Dark mahogany color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Playdough, cinnamon, nutmeg, mild wood. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, rubbery finish. O- My third beer aged on Palo Santo and apparently the first with incense chips thrown in instead of barrel aged in the wood. And yest that seems to make a difference. Tasted like playdough rolled in nutmeg. Not a fan.

Draft. A- Peach, slightly artificial, gummies. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Peach, bitter, dry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- Smell is decent enough but the flavor drops off severely. Very dry and bitter and a fake peach taste.
