Description
Privately owned since 1809, the Ochsenfurter Kauzen-Bräu stands for traditional Franconian brewing culture. The brewery was not always called Kauzen Bräu. It was not until 1974 that the Ochsenfurt monastery brewery was renamed the Kauzen Brewery.

50 cl bottle at an expensive supermarket in the middle of Wurzburg. Medium white head. weak retention.Medium lacing. Grains and grass. Malty, grainy. Light to medium body body .Average carbo.

50 cl bottle at some market in Wurzburg. Really pale golden colour. Medium to small head. Average retention. Faint biscuit aroma.Grainy with weird cooked vegetables notes.Not that exciting. I liked the label though.

Pale yellow with moderate white head. Lemon-lime, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Moderately sweet lemon-lime, biscuit malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body.

Candied sugar, toffee malt, and fresh hay aroma. Slightly hazy dark amber with small head. Moderately sweet toffee malt, and mildly bitter/astringent fresh hay flavor. Nice body.

50cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours brown, with fine whitish foam. Aroma is caramel, chestnut honey. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium sweet. Final is slightly dry.

50cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours orange gold, transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is bready and honey, floral. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is moderately sweet. Final is average.

Klare goldgelbe Farbe; feinporige stabile Schaumkrone. In der Nase kernig-würzig, malzig, etwas grasiger Hopfen. Im Geschmack robust, würzig, malzig, relativ trocken mit leichter Süße, milde Hopfenbittere, wenig Kohlensäure, ziemlich süffig.

Dunkelbraune bis schwarze Farbe; cremige und stabile Schaumkrone. Viel dunkles Malz, auch etwas Röstmalz, Bitterschokolade, Espresso, schlanker Körper, trocken. Solides Stout.

Aroma had malty, grassy and sadly butterish notes. Over the palate came biscuity malt, hay and butter. Finished dry and slightly bitter.

Optisch sattes Gold im Glas, kaum Perlung. In der Nase Honig, Trauben, süß. Im Trunk ziemlich unrund, alkoholisch, pappig, irgendwie alt, puh.
