Kellerbier from Kauzen-Bräu, an independent Bavarian brewery. Thick and frothy, eggwhite, densely moussey, regular and stable head on an initially clear, warm old golden beer with orange to almost amberish glow and strings of fine sparkling, turning very lightly misty further on. Aroma of dry biscuit, sweetclover, slight honey even, rose petals, fresh white bread dough, flour, lightly toasted pine nuts, drying grass, cold chamomile tea, minerals, vague hint of, well, cellar. Malt-fruity onset, vague hint at apple peel, even a very faint whiff of orange zest, medium carbonation with 'natural' minerality to it which stretches out further on, soft and fluffy mouthfeel; white-bready, bit biscuity and slightly pine-nutty malt profile, a tad sweeter and 'darker' than average for a Kellerbier, rounded and smooth, with a faint clove-like touch retronasally and floral hops - sweetclover, acacia blossom, chamomile impressions paired with mild end bitterness, in which that lightly biscuity malt sweetness continues a bit, along with a very late, very mild yeast sourishness. Very 'süffig', as the Germans say - a highly drinkable, perfectly finetuned, very pure and very natural-feeling oldschool Bavarian Lager, showing all of the fine details one can expect from a good Kellerbier. I love this kind of 'pure' beers more and more.
