Description
Mark and Helena Dearman set up Twisted Wheel Brew Co with their daughters Laura and Charlotte in October 2019. We assembled a great team with a wealth of experience and set about brewing some of the best beer we’ve ever made.
Located at the former Windmill Brewery site in Standish, Wigan. Relocated in Winter 2020 to Westbrook, Warrington. They announced that they were closing towards the end of 2022, however, the former head brewer Anthony Barrett bought the brand in the beginning of 2023. But in March 2023 they couldn't use the facility any longer and plans had to be changed. Their beers are now cuckoo brewed, initially at Ben's Brewery Ltd but now at C'84 Brew Co.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a murky straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, rich, light tart mango, dry peachy, light floral, dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with flat carbonation.

Handpull cask from the Blue Boar, Leicester. Deep gold with a reasonable haze. Light soft citrus aroma. Some tangerine pulp and a little bit of pink grapefruit. Taste is sweet, I'm getting a nice hit of peach and maybe some cherry. Light bitterness in the finish but this is a pretty sweet beer all in all. Oily body with soft carbonation. It's quite good.

Large foamy white head grew on a cloudy vivid pale golden body. Spicy & herbal aroma. Medium bodied, tingly in the tongue with a smoother back & cloying aft. Chalk, herbal, cereal & tangy fruity 5astes with a bitter, hoppy, peppery finish. Very interesting.

Can from brewery – given away as freebie at promotional event. Pours almost black with small , transient dark beige head. Chocolate and roast malts in the aroma. The initial sensation in the mouth is of a sharp fruitiness. This is quickly swamped by milky chocolate, but remains underneath. Later on coffee grains and roasted malts come through. Finish is sweet and sticky. Very nice – and dangerously drinkable !

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Beer No Evil. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy, white head. Smells like vinyl in the sun. Impressively, and sadly, it also tastes like vinyl in the sun. The first sip was unpleasant. So was the second sip. Against my occasionally better judgement, I kept sipping. If I really dig around, I find some citrus fruit notes. But the vinyl-plastic-soapy notes are overwhelming. This is a beer that has not gone well. Somewhere, at some point, something went bad wrong. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lingering plastic in the finish, faint rindy citrus, lemon peel. It brings me no joy in saying this beer is terrible.
