Description
The Verhuisbrouwerij is a hobby brewery of a few amateur brewers who move their brewery for a day every month to give brewing demonstrations. This part is to be seen as homebrew. Next to that, some batches are brewed at a bigger ( commercial) scale in another brewery. For these, official beers, De Verhuisbrouwerij is a client brewer.

Very good light-beige head, rather stable over fully opaque dark brown beer. Cookies, bready, rather sweet nose with melanoidins and dark malts in evidence. Pastry dough with hazelnuts, finely spiced with - indeed - coriander. Sweetish-bready to again pastry-like flavours; gingerbread, with a bitterish to bitter finish (~walnutpeel); Amaretto and bitter oranges. Well bodied, slick, some alcoholwarming, well-carbonated. Unfortunately, bitter- and sweetcomponents are pulling in opposite directions, rather than blending, hence a bit unbalanced. Still, the basic flavourprofile seems a sound idea.

first of all, out of the ordenary, i’d like to talk about the bottle ( wel, label) here. its my second beer from this ’brewerie’ (they’re guys making beer at proefbrouwerij, they’re called verhuisbrouwerij themselfs and made lustem as well ) i enjoyed the other one realy much. labels are like de molen, just text. but it says all ! the amount of beer made in the batch ( this ones a 500 l onley ! ) the adress, description, idea of the brewerie, how they make the beer ( specified even the yeast and hops) so yeah ! big fan ! lets see what their second baby will do to me ! first thing to do, is it proves to be a GUSHER. it was brewed october 8, bottled november 5th. today is november 3th 2012. 2 years old, still a gusher ... dark, orange brown ( they make SUCH nice colours ! ) white, maybe some small brownish part foam, wich keeps getting.. bigger (?) dont even know hos this is possible :p not so much of a smell taste: not that carbonated at all ! not that its flat neither, its just how it should be. a little ’sourness’ kind of hint to it, warmth, reminds me of a beer like the struise make their good stuff ( panbnepot etc) yet it something totaly diffrent though, its just .. so good quality, complexity, balanced,.. how does this get so low ratings? realy drinkable. it has this candysugary thing in it ( wich may explain me thinking of pannepot? ) anyway its so light, you can drink it like a lager. yet so complex, tastefull in the back of your mouth. its a beer that says hello, enjoy me like watter, and whispers behind it ’ and i taste great too’ (if that description makes any scence ) deffinetly recomended ! these brewers do better than 99 % of belgian brewers ! respect ! other detail : this is the first batch (the one i had)

bottle @ home from wijnegemse drankenhal . first time i ever drank this type of beer, according to the label onley a small amount was made ( but enough to be a lot for such a small brewerie ) colour is truley the nicest i’ve ever seen. red-brown , clear and dark, all at once.. very very nice. foam is normal. taste : well, as i’ve had the ’ pleasure’ so many times before, way to carbonated. this realy destroys the taste and about 80 % of these ’ unknown specials’ have it. sux... but i do taste some fruits, but not to much. niceley done, totaly if you think about how small the brewerie must be. i’d say go on this way, but i beg you, fix the carbonation problem, all of you !

Bottle from Beer Planet, Bruxelles, 7.6% ABV
batch XIV, brewed 1/9/2010 bottled 29/9/2010

Clear golden to light amber color with generous compact head. Technically a correct brew, it has anonymous aroma and flavor, moderate residual sweetness, almost no Belgian character, ordinary bitterness; I expected more fantasy from a homebrewers club.
I can’t dig this.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Pours deep copper with thin gold edges and thin tan head. The aroma has some caramel and honey as well as some Belgian Triple like fruity esters and yeasty spices. The taste delivers some brown sugar and date to prune sweet dark fruity esters. It then rolls into some Belgian yeastiness. It ends with modest hop bitterness and some spicy notes. Alright but not as tasty as the time herb honey version.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Pours deep copper with thin gold edges and thin tan head. The aroma offers up floral hops, herbally honey and some Belgian yeasty spices. The taste is crisp and a bit bright with Belgian yeasty spices such as coriander, clove and allspice flowing into smooth and subtle and sweet honey notes. Great stuff for sure as there’s a forward honey note that doesn’t over power.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2012 // clear amber with a white head // smell is sweet caramel & malts, touch honey & sweet spices // taste is caramel malts with a touch of honey, herbal & floral finish, light grains // slightly below medium body, touch above medium carbonation // not bad but not enough of a punch to carry fully the lovely picturesque name
