33cl bottle from a trade with Douberd! Pours clear amber colour with a small good lasting off-white head. Aroma of mild hops, citrus, caramel. Taste of mild citrus hops, spruce, toasted malt, boring!

Pint at Bluestone Room. It looks ok, cloudy with a decent head, but there’s not much nose and the taste is chalky more than anything. Not recommended.

Not really IPA like, too light on the hops

Hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, some creamy sweetness but also with a pretty odd grainy tang. Piney hops, trace of spice. Banana esters on the smooth finish. It’s odd for sure but by no means terrible. I just don’t understand why importers are bringing this stuff in when there are far better breweries in NZ.

Bottle from the Star, Bishop’s Stortford. Mid- to dark gold. Nice big white head. Smells of ginger. Nothing but ginger. Like a ginger beer. Tastes spicy and slightly sour like a basic lager infused with ginger. Not getting honey at all. A bit of soft citrus on the finish. Nicely carbonated. Many problems but it’s refreshing enough to garner a half decent rate.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Clear dar amber, off-white head. Smells of caramel and lollipops, vague fruity notes and maybe some hops. Or maybe not. Hints of alcohol. The taste is much worse, caramel, lollipops and light malty notes are totally lost in the head of harsh alcohol. The finish is harsh and bitter, but mostly alcoholic rather than hoppy. More like a strong lager.

330ml bottle. Barely clear, faint, orangey, pale golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Weak, fruity hoppy aroma, hints of red and yellow berries, a spicy touch of corresponding shrubs, kiwi fruit, mellow malty background. Taste is slightly sweet pale malty with a touch of peanut, hoppy overtones with a touch of red berries, kiwi fruit; soft and smooth palate. Very cautious, without accentuated hop profile.
