Bottle from Albert Heijn. Clear golden with short lasting fizzy white head. Cardboard, really dusty old grains, caramel, toffee, corn, light syrup, lemon candies that somebody forgot in the cupboard that have gone stale, skunky, dried out yoghurt. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied with low carbonation and overall stale feel. Horrible. Why would anyone import this from the other side of the world? What a waste of resources.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket. Promises ’southern pale ale’ so I guessed it was hopped with Nelson Sauvin or something - but anyway: thick, sticky, coarse, off-white head, warm ’old gold’ colour, cristal clear. Aroma of soggy sugar corn, apple juice, flowers, breakfast cereals, hint of ’cooked’ pasteurization - in all, not very hoppy to say the least, and way sweeter than expected. Sweet but clean onset, very apple-like, thinnish but somehow sticky mouthfeel, soft carbo, underlying ’basic’ but inexpressive sourishness, ’dead’ main taste, lean graininess with a bready hint growing stronger and even a tad ’powdery’ in the end, soft floral hoppiness providing underachieving bitterness and dito retronasal aromas. With all due respect for brewer’s intent but this is not a pale ale: this is a simple, plain golden ale at best, intended for easy and uncomplicated session drinking. Whatever, but please do not call it a "pale ale" then... Boring and too sweet in a strange, unpleasantly apple-ish kind of way.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket. Medium thick, off-white, moussy, lightly lacing head over a deep and warm amberish orange coloured, cristal clear beer with vivid fizz. Aroma of toasted bread, melting butter, iron but not obnoxiously so, dried flowers, white pepper, sweaty grains, hazelnut. Straightforward malt fruitiness but very low in yeast fruitiness, very clean, softish carbo, nutty malts apparent from the start, a tad metallic in the middle, buttery texture, soft hoppy finish with retronasal floral qualities, bit leafy, medium long but still the nutty malt ’bittersweetness’ prevails. Nice and clean enough and in some ways an ’old’ English style IPA, refreshing and crisp, but simple. I guess people expecting a ’new’ American style IPA will be hugely disappointed by this, but I kind of liked it, regardless.

33cl bottle. Clear amber with a thin white head that disappears in an instant. Smells lie burnt caramel, lemon juice, red fruit and bubble gum. The taste follows the same note, and odd mix of red fruit, bitter hops and bubble gum. Not bad!

Gylden brun klar med lavt beige skum. Lite som minner om en IPA i lukten. Maltdominert, nøtter og karamell. Kort metallisk bitterhet i smak. Middels lang.
