Description
Established in 2014 as a side brand of Brentwood Brewing to cater for the ‘craft’ market.
Elephant School Brewing is named after the Elephant School that was in the base for the army barracks, which was a depot for the Essex Regiment. The school was run by the British East India Trading Company and they trained people to ride Elephants before going out to India. The beers are not along the traditional lines of its parent and so you can expect to see some rather different samples of beers being born.

Cask at Hole in the Wall, Waterloo. Clear dark amber. Foamy white head sticks to the rim. Aroma has sweet caramel with a sour edge. And veg. Flavourwise it's tangy and sour. Berries. Underlying watery malts. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. This is a mild?! Would've thought it was a shitty Gold.

Cask at Pigs Ear. Near clear deep amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, some caramel and cream but outmuscled by a fair amount of floral bitterness. Dried fruits and a little ripe fruits. Light and semi dry finish. Candy fruits on the very end. A mildly tangy bitter ripe fruity linger. A tad thin and dry but entertainingly bitter.

Cask at Pigs Ear Beer & Cider Festival 2025, Hackney. London. A ruby/brown coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Hoppy, malty, citrus, caramel. Rather bitter and hard work. Expected something better.
