Description
Reaching from The Marches in the North and South to Redwick on the flood plain of the Severn; some old farms still have their stone mills now abandoned to history. Here at Blaengawney Farm we have taken the old traditional methods of cider making from fresh cider apples and applied a new philosophy to our production, stealing a few techniques from wine makers along the way. You are just as likely to find ciders ageing in ancient oak barrels in our mill, alongside large wine fermenters made from stainless steel.

We have not yielded to the trend of adding syrups and berries to our cider. Instead we have taken a more grown up approach with care and attention that is needed to blend a fine cider worthy of acclaim from some of the most respected critics, and our ever growing following of loyal customers.

Hallets and Blaengawney are brands of the same business.

Draught @ Jolly Butchers. Pours gold with a bright, sweet fruity taste, a touch of pear with smooth apple flesh without getting sickly. Don’t usually go for sweet ciders but this is very nice.

Draft @ Llandrindod Wells Beer & Food Festival 2014. Pours gold with a floral summer sweetness and great fruity character enriched by the oak conditioning. There’s a subtle cheek-sucking dryness but it’s balanced well making this an enjoyable, interesting summer cider. More great stuff from Andy!

Bottled @ café derat, large sample. Clear yellow color, tiny bubbles, leaves teardrops along the glass like dessert wine. Aroma of dry apple, slight hint of wood, dust, cellar. Bit dry in taste, bit sweet. Quite clean. Very decent cider, could use a bit more complexity, but nicely balanced.

Draught @ Sheffield Tap. Has a very strange flowery dandelion fruitiness on the tongue, quite lively and unlike any perry I’ve had before. Perhaps this is the Special Edition perry? Not sure whether I’m into this.
