Description
Stroud Brewery was established in 2006 by Greg Pilley and his wife Jade. The business has grown steadily and now employs over 20 people. We recently constructed a brand new building purpose built for our growing needs. It provides more space for the brewery, allowing an increase in our production capacity, a larger office and a canal-side tap with beautiful views of the Golden Valley.

We have created a range of organic beers that we are really proud of, because they taste great and their production supports the local farmers and the ecosystems they manage. The standards we must adhere to for organic certification support our ambition to be a business that cares for people and planet.

Hand-pulled cask ale, half pint at the Rook and Gaskill. Dark golden body. Naked surface, fair lacing. Lemony hops on the nose, faint malty sweetness beneath. Orange and juicy malts to the taste buds leading to a bitter ending of citrus shells, not overly dry. A refreshing, session ale (York 11.07.2014).

Cask by hand-pump, half pint at Brigantes Bar & Brasserie. A best bitter ale, described as a dark pale ale, with a patchy, fawn-coloured head blanketing the glassware. Clear dark amber coloured body. Dark fruits and brown malts on the nose. Resinous hops and mild chocolate malts to the taste profile. Malt bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied. Nice and tasty (York 10.07.2014).

Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, bubbly white head. Palate is light and a little crisp. Very nice combo of orange and lemon citrus overlaid with fresh tasting and slightly sweet zingy elderflower. Finishes light, dry and crisp. Elderflower lingers on. A fabulous summer beer.

Opaque black with red hue, small tan head, vanishes after a while but fair lacing. Aroma moderate roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dough, brown sugar. Mild bittersweet taste; medium body, thin creamy texture, soft carbonation. Dry and mild bittersweet finish, some roastiness lingers on. Nice stout but lacks a bit real character.
