Bottle. Amber beer with a strongish head. The aroma is bitter, malty and roasted, and the flavour is toffee and bitter. Overall an OK bitter.

Bottle. Still looking dark golden beer with a strongish head. The aroma is malty and hopped, and the flavour is quite sugary and malty with a deep hopped and bitter finish. Overall a nice hopped and malty beer.

Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 21.01.11 Pours chestnut with a swirly filmy off-white head. Sweet malty fruit nose, with more of the same in the mouth. This has a slight rustic quality about it, thick mouthfeel, some woodiness, good beer but one pint was probably enough. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

On gravity at the Tobacco Factory beer festival, Bristol 10/10/10. Deep gold with a slight white head and a touch of carbonation. Light, sweet malts and green, herbal hop aroma. Flavour was similar, with sweetish, cereal malts, leafy, green hops and a decent bitter finish. Unusual and enjoyable.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2010. Copper amber colour. It’s a slightly green appley bitter, some biscuit, not great condition, quite a lot of green apple to be honest. OK.

Cask at The Royal Oak, Painswick, Gloucestershire last month. Golden coloured pour with smallish head. Clean hoppy aroma. Tastes very hoppy, lemon, slight sweetness. Incredibly drinkable. I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this fresh beer in the stunning village of Painswick in the Cotswolds, wish I could buy it here in London.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks 09-04-10 Pours very dark brown with a cappucino like head. Continuing the coffee theme there is some on the nose with roasty notes also. In the mouth this is a little earthy, roasty and with coffee flavour’s again combining with the skin of some dark fruits. This is very nice another good beer from Stroud. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 03/04/10. Deep gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of peach, orange blossom and a hint of sweet malt. Flavours of buscuit malt, more fruit, including peach, and leafy hops, leading to a pleasantly bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle that I picked up at Bellingers, Jet Garage, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon, purchased and consumed the same day 03-01-10 Pours mid amber with a filmy white head. The aroma was not as spicy or citric as the description hinted that it would be, I get more toffee, malts and a merest hint of chlorine, the latter possibly being a Thames tap water rinse of the glass. Some light citrus in the mouth, light caramel and a decent malty backbone. A fine beer but possibly a bit weaker compared to many of the others on the Stroud stable. A6 A3 F6 P4 Ov12 3.1

Bottle from Bellingers, Jet Garage, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon 29-12-09 consumed the same day Pours dark brown, couple of red glints come through, light beige head. Taste is roasty but with subtle but quite lovey chocolate flavours coming through. There is a nice fruitiness about this with good dark dried fruits in particular showing, soft at time in the mouth, fruity on nose. Another very good beer from Stroud who’ve impressed me with all three beers that I’ve tried so far. A6 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.6
