Description
Spearheading the barrel-ageing movement from Scotland, The Original bourbon barrel-aged beer is the one that started Innis & Gunn when Master Brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp founded the brewery in 2003.
Innis & Gunn was contract brewed in Glasgow at Tennent's Wellpark Brewery since 2014. On 15 November 2018 Tennent's announced the brewing contract will be terminated with effect from September 2020. Innis & Gunn responded the following day by saying they plan on opening their own brewery.
The Innis & Gunn Brewery in Perth is our home for innovation and barrel-ageing. With plans to build a new large scale brewery in our hometown of Edinburgh, it will be the first new large brewery to be built in the capital in 150 years.

Wetherspoon 2025 Autumn Beer Festival. Ale#1 of 26 untried possibilities at the fest. Golden with a small haze, but a bigger head. The spirit is strong in both aroma and taste, providing a decent sweetish flavour within quite a heavy-drinking texture.

500ml (thx, Renny!) @ Ryan's on his 39th celebration.
Aroma: caramel malt, some wood notes.
Taste: along the same lines, watery.
Overall: meh, as usual.

Poured from 500mL bottle at my 39th bday. Auburn brown with small off white head. Has a touch of that I&G character, but with a touch more woodiness. Light caramel malt, like it better as it warms a bit. Typical I&G fare, okay. Courtesy of RennyDoig.

500mL bottle. Pours clear brown with a white head. Gentle brown bread malts and some brown sugar on the nose. Flavour has thin bready malts and some dry smokey wood. It's okay, but pretty timid.

Ravfarget klar med off white skum. Lukter karamell, vanilje og noe whisky. Lett. Søtlig. Smaker karamell, vanilje og distinkt søtlig whisky.

A soft and sweet malt nose. The taste is honey oak and vanilla. There is almost no hop presence and the malt is also sweet, adding to the one-sidedness of the taste profile. A touch insipid for my taste in beer.

(Bottle) Black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, dark bread, oak wood, vanilla, pecan nuts, prunes and liquorice. Malty, roasted, sweetish taste with dark bread, dark chocolate, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, nuts, prunes, liquorice, a touch of peat and a mild cacao bitterness in a sweet and warming finish. Full body, sweet. Rich and warming. Good balance. Very nice.
